To think this is a bit unsafe?

Nice, fairly empty motorway.
Most cars doing about 70.
Most lorries zooming along at their speed limit.
I know not everybody wants to compete with the reps/ boy racers..
But doing 40, on the m6?
Forcing lorries to overtake

I am guessing the driver could have been old/not confident/foreign?

But for their safety, would it BU to have a motorway lesson?

I am now trying to remember if there are rules (suggestions?) about a minimum speed on empty-ish motorways?

Do these people who potter along ever use their rear view mirror?

If I wanted to potter and saw a queue forming behind me I would find somewhere safe to pull in and let them past.

just not in that much of a hurry and perfectly happy at a lower speed and don't always realise that other people are in more of a hurry than them

As I said earlier, a special kind of entitled.

As I said earlier, a special kind of entitled. - I'd reserve that for the ones who tailgate.

MaidOfStars · 04/08/2015 18:13

OK, fair point. It's a slightly less special kind of entitled. Wink

I had to drive at under 50 miles per hour down the M4 for 90 odd miles as I had a puncture and the spare wheel was a weird small one with a 50 mile an hour peed limit. It was horrible as I was being overtaken by lorries etc but couldn't go any faster.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 04/08/2015 18:22

Both are inconsiderate, I'll concede that. I like pottering along just as much as I like putting my foot down a bit, but do try and consider those behind me, so I'll either speed up, or slow down / move over a bit to let them overtake as appropriate if someone comes up behind me. But when I get caught behind a 40mph driver it doesn't really bother me and I'll just slow down too.

Until I can overtake that is, I realise it's harder for someone who wants to get past to overtake 2 cars than one.
