To think White Dee has forgotten herself

in response to her supporting the Tories on their benefit cuts. Correct me if I am wrong but has she not seen enough poor days herself by way of claiming benefits. Yes I know she was ill and no one with a mental health condition should ever be forced or expected work unless of course they want to with ample support. But should she not be more understanding than anyone.
Very easy for her to say Oh yes cut their money (when incidentally she is a now very well off). As this will encourage The unemployed to "go and get a job".
Now please believe me I do not mind anyone getting on.
But bettering oneself is one thing. Forgetting oneself is quite another.

Ah no, wrong thread!!

I just googled Dee... Exercise dvd is next for her

scarlets · 03/08/2015 16:05

She collected welfare when she needed it, and now she earns a living so I suppose she's quite well placed to opine. She grabbed her opportunity and got stuck in, which makes her a Cons poster girl, pretty much. Not everyone is as fortunate with the opportunities, and she'd do well to remember that, although I don't agree that she shoild "know her place" or any such nonsense (not that the OP said that). I just hope she's invested her money wisely because her celebrity will soon fade and there'll be no handouts then.

paddymcgintysmum · 03/08/2015 16:13

When she was working for the local council, she helped herself to 13k from the safe. Money that belonged to the poorest of residents. Google it.

PausingFlatly · 03/08/2015 16:17

Yes, the "then got well" is a key requirement of Tory (and recent Labour) disability policy.

Not getting well is not allowed.

Which is helpful if you have a permanent or degenerative condition.Hmm

GarminGirl · 03/08/2015 16:19

She had depression.... Somehow she's fallen in love with exercise and lost 3 stone. Well done her! It's apparently helped the depression and she's feeling more in control of her life

LunchpackOfNotreDame · 03/08/2015 16:21

I have a permanent and degenerative health issue. The rules state it has to affect you the majority of the time (meaning 4 days a week or more)

PausingFlatly · 03/08/2015 16:34

You're supposed to get well permanently, Lunchbox. Illness is a socially deviant state intended to acquire privileges for the sick person, doncha know.

At least, that's what was being peddled at a conference by the insurance companies and enthused over by Labour and David Freud a few years back.

LunchpackOfNotreDame · 03/08/2015 16:46

Well if labour can hurry up and find a cure for me then it would be appreciated

Oswin · 03/08/2015 16:52

White dee used to claim esa. They are drastically cutting esa for the work related activity group. Its fucking awful. How she can support them boggles me.

RosePetels · 03/08/2015 17:10

She obviously believes she will never be in that position again.

twinklexx · 03/08/2015 17:10

To the pp who asked, yes they were called Black Dee and White Dee to differentiate between them in the easiest way

Dawndonnaagain · 03/08/2015 17:13

enthused over by Labour and David Freud a few years back.
Just so that we're clear, David Freud is a Conservative politician.

dashoflime · 03/08/2015 17:19

Its no surprise to me. Imo left wing commontators were complete arseholes about the people featured in Benefits Street. Desperately trying to distinguish them from the rest of the working class "Not all benefit claimants are like those people on Benefit Street. Its not representative" When in most cases the benefits street people were doing nothing wrong!
How would that sort of talk make you feel?
Likely to hitch your wagon to their paticular star? Dont think so..

PausingFlatly · 03/08/2015 17:23

Yy, equally enthused over by Tories. Thanks for making my muddy post clearer, Dawn.
