On mumsnet you just can't please everyone so it doesn't bother me how people open the thread.

Do women really say that to each other, is my point?

I prefer what's up bitches.
But either would do.

I immediately think it's a man. Or a Forever Living distributor.

Doesn't bother me at all - prefer to girls which is what we women at work are referred to.

I want to be addressed as a lady...that's what I am after all...

ONLY KIDDING!

YANBU of course.

The5DayChicken · 28/07/2015 14:41

I am most certainly not a lady, so being mistaken for one is a refreshing change Smile

Henceforth, I'm going to start mine:

'Yo' bitchez'

I always think it's a male poster if it opens like that.

roundandroundthehouses · 28/07/2015 14:49

It sounds false to me - like someone's received idea of how you're meant to address a group of mothers. Sometimes it's just because they're used to the lingo of a different forum. But it's used often enough by journalists, goady fuckers and people selling you something that it doesn't warm me to the person, put it that way Grin.

I just assume it's a typo.

Always cobblers IMO, and yes I always assume it's a male with an agenda or a big stirry spoon.

I reckon it's the direct equivalent of the flyers you find in libraries. "Calling All Teens age 14-16!!! Wow your mates this summer with cool digital art skillz!!!"

I usually expect them to tell me about a forgotten inheritance from a long lost Nigerian uncle.

Me too I'm afraid, especially if there are other things in the posts which set off alarm bells.

Never thought it might be a Forever Living rep though. Will look out for that one. Grin

It always makes me think of Kevin and Perry trying to chat up girls

I've learned to heed it as a warning sign of a troll, usually of the horny amateur male escort type.

Report

shadowfax07 · 28/07/2015 15:04

It really doesn't bother me at all. Although knowing that there are men on mn, it does seem wrong to exclude them.

Friends of mine say 'Hi Ladies!' when they all meet up, or 'Hi, Girls!'
I hate it.
