I'd guess they're either male or trying to sell you something.

I have teen boys and they sometimes greet a group of their male mates with 'Hello Ladies'. Grin it's like living in the Inbetweeners Movie at this house.

Not really that big a deal is it.... Hmm

My brother emailed me this week starting "Hello fucker". I think I prefer that.

From now on, start every post with "What's happening Cuntychops?"

No one can be offended by that....

It's usually a journalist.

I hate when it ends with Discuss.

I ought to make it clear that I have no problem with men on mn. i rarely notice whether it's the men on here who post or not and the advice is as valid as any other. It's the certain type of person that calls us ladies that set alarm bells ringing.

It's nearly as bad as having a gif of a facial expression as the opening message.

People don't like it if you do namechange and about the same amount don't like it if you don't namechange, you can really never please anyone on that front.

Report
wtfih · 28/07/2015 15:56

I name change a lot too, but I'm only doing to protect myself. It allowed me to post details without worrying so much about someone putting 2 and 2 together.
If it wasn't for the name change facility I would definitely not be as active.

Report
Sparklingbrook · 28/07/2015 15:46

I wouldn't even try to please everyone on MN it's a really big site. Even though with all the namechanging sometimes it feels like there's about ten posters tops. Grin

Wtfih - I think you're right. You can't please everyone!

Report
Sparklingbrook · 28/07/2015 15:43

I do think it's the 'ladies/mummies' bit that makes everyone a bit 'oh here we go'.

Report
hiddenhome · 28/07/2015 15:42

It's usually started by a bloke Hmm

Report
Sparklingbrook · 28/07/2015 15:41

Um, I am not sure wtfih, I suppose a 'Hi all' is ok. It's always good to put some detail in the header though and go on from there.

I usually think it's someone not used to man and their trying to be polite.
