AIBU to give this gift?

DD(10)'s closest friend just turned 8. Her friend's favourite thing in the world to do is have "special" tea parties with anyone who will dress up and join her.

We have a box of antique tea cups and saucers in the attic that has probably not been opened in 20 years. None of them carry any commercial value, but they are family items.

DD's friend is practically family to us - WIBU to give her a special cup and saucer for her birthday? It seems like a better gift to me than plastic branded tat. Maybe that is because I am an old goat, though...

What a wonderful gift.

A lovely idea! A long time ago, When I was a little girl, my granny gave me a teas set which was only ever used for my birthday tea. ( my parents didn't approve of parties ).
Sadly it was lost in a move. I'm sure the little girl will treasure it.
