BBQ today (sun currently shining) and forgot to get the chicken drumsticks out of the freezer last night. DH says you can't cook chicken pieces from frozen. I say thats ridiculous and that if you can cook chicken nuggets or preformed chicken from frozen, surely you can cook chicken drumsticks from frozen? We aren't rowing about it and this isn't some huge debate but maybe I'm wrong? Shock

What's the consensus? Do I need to nip to Sainsbury's to buy fresh ones? If it helps I was going to cook them in the oven first and finish them straight away on the BBQ.

I think the danger is if they are solidly frozen in the centre the outside is fully cooked before the inside reaches a high enough temperature to kill off any bugs, it only reaches a nice luke warm bacteria breeding temperature.

As long as you make sure the middle is piping hot it should be ok, but chances are to achieve this on a BBQ the outside will be overcooked.

When l lived in the US, every l knew cooked chicken from frozen. I was Shock
Then l started doing it, in the crock pot - or oven.
We survived our seven years there.
I don't think l'd contemplate it for a BBQ

I would boil them for a couple of hours first.

I wouldn't put them on BBQ frozen. I'd prob roast them in the oven till cooked, put a load of BBQ sauce on them and do a couple of mins either side on the BBQ. Although I realise this is a little late for the op!
