Hello today I went out with DDS and some friends. I parked my car and was about to go in to eat when some idiot tried to park next to me. I asked her politely to unroll her window and move as she was tailgating and too close to my car far my liking. She moved but was huffing and puffing and sighing and complained before finally giving in. Aibu to think she was acting immature and rude as she messed up my schedule so DD and my friends had to run ahead to reserve a table without me when I wanted us all to sit together.

Hmm
msgrinch · 17/07/2015 23:33

seriously wtf? This actually bothered you? Yabu abd very odd.

pieceofpurplesky · 17/07/2015 23:42

Grin at need your own space. Think the friends perhaps deliberately found a table with one seat less as they wanted to spread their coffee cups about without being accused of hogging the space

wigglesrock · 17/07/2015 23:47

I'm trying to imagine pissing about because someone deigned to park in a marked parking space beside my car to the extent that I ruined going out for something to eat - nope - can't do it.

You must have been parking in a very nice carpark by the way, should you have carried on like that where I live you'd have been told to catch yourself on and stop making an eejit of yourself.

SorchaN · 18/07/2015 05:30

I've read the whole thread and I still don't know what happened. I suppose it's my own fault for getting my hopes up about a possible parking thread Sad.

Redglitter · 18/07/2015 05:57

I'm completely lost with the table reservation bit Confused

Lurkedforever1 · 18/07/2015 06:03

Yanbu in the slightest op. After all you had a lunch reservation with friends, whereas that other woman was no doubt simply your regular garden variety of customer. She should have really waited for an opportunity that would not have inconvenienced you and respectfully asked permission to park within 10' of your car, and then fell down on her knees at your benevolence if you acquiesced. She was bu and entitled to park in an empty bay. And I fully sympathise on the seating delay, everybody knows walking through the door at the exact same moment is most of the fun. Also ywnbu to randomly accost her on account of her fore mentioned unreasonable behavior

Icimoi · 18/07/2015 07:25

I'm assuming OP was roadside parking and she was worried that she wouldn't be able to get her car out again because the car behind was too close. But I don't understand the restaurant issue at all.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 18/07/2015 07:31

What you should from now on is park half in one bay, half in another and then you won't have this problem.

bluefay · 18/07/2015 10:56

Well I have read through this thread and I will try to be considerate of your opinions. As for the tables situation I'm annoyed as I lost out on some time because of the other women's lack of driving skills.

OP posts:
DocHollywood · 18/07/2015 11:01

Not really understanding the rushing to reserve a table bit. Is there a set time of day when tables become available? And if the conversation was indeed necessary, it should have taken 30 seconds max. Not enough time to ruin lunch I would've thought.

FenellaFellorick · 18/07/2015 11:04

what lack of driving skills? What did she actually do that prohibited you from parking up and going straight into the venue?

Did she bump your car?
Did she park outside the lines of her space and into yours?
Did she park within your space and you were trapped?

What did she do that meant you did not have the physical option of just parking your own car and going into the venue?

CrispyFern · 18/07/2015 11:21

Losing ten minutes (surely no longer?) of lunch time, shouldn't really be something you dwell on. Leave it behind. Also similar annoyances. You'll feel better.

StayWithMe · 18/07/2015 11:22

I'm really hoping this is a piss take as I can't stop laughing at that last post. ConfusedGrin

LavenderLeigh · 18/07/2015 11:24

How much time did you "lose" because you insisted on interfering with the other driver?
Two minutes? Three? Pretty inconsequential. You've spent more time on this thread complaining about something that wouldn't have even registered with most people.
And what "lack of driving skills"?
If you were really that bothered, why didn't you move your car instead of telling her to do so?
You sound very hard work.

msgrinch · 18/07/2015 11:26

This is the gift that keeps on giving. You're funny op.

IFinishedTheBiscuits · 18/07/2015 13:47

The penny has just dropped... Lurkedforever you were almost there.

  • The regular tailgating.
  • Lunch being part of an important schedule.
  • Needing wider than usual space around a car.
  • The importance of the group entrance.

There's no other possible explanation. OP is Kim Kardashian.

silveroldie2 · 18/07/2015 13:51

Oh god, looks like we've slipped into the Twilight Zone again.

What I'm intrigued about is that because someone tailgated the OP previously which resulted in a dent in her car, rather than get the garage to fix the dent, she bought a new car. I hope it was a naice car.

PrimalLass · 18/07/2015 13:56

There's no other possible explanation. OP is Kim Kardashian.

I think you are right there.

This is hilarious.

Ilovenannyplum · 18/07/2015 14:13

Haaaaaa, Kim Kardashian Grin

maybebabybee · 18/07/2015 14:19

Pissing myself laughing. I actually don't understand any of this story. Could you come back and explain it again OP?

Lurkedforever1 · 18/07/2015 14:19

Yes of course I thought of op being kim kardashian I just wanted to see who was erm, bright enough to guess correctly first. I didn't just pmsl when I first read it as someone else's post, definitely not. Grin

rosesanddaisies · 18/07/2015 14:23

YABU.

rosesanddaisies · 18/07/2015 14:24

First world problem.

kali110 · 18/07/2015 15:34

Lack of driving skills?? Omg think the other driver did the right thing getting away from you.
