Facebook is swarming with people saying how much they deserve it and other people patting them on the back. It seems like the world and his wife are in education or SAHM's with 6 glorious weeks ahead of them. Apart from a one week holiday I have a juggling timetable of various childcare arrangements to run to and fro from.

No teacher I know would post anything about their work on a Facebook page. Read the teacher standards. Just popped back to see how the thread is doing. Just wanted to help it on its way to 1000

Happy36. Ha ha ha ha I am so nicking that to send to friends.

EvilTwins · 22/07/2015 23:56

The only thing I post on FB that even alludes to work is stuff like "so proud of the cast of the school show/so proud of my 6th form group/so proud of the GCSE gang" I'm totally nauseating.

I don't do it often - there are FB groups for annoying drama teachers like me so I keep my vomit-inducing posts for people who will appreciate them Grin

noblegiraffe · 23/07/2015 00:07

I think the only teachery thing I've posted was that video of Gove falling over Grin

Happy36 · 23/07/2015 00:35

noblegiraffe If you read the Daily Mail (shameful face), Sarah Vine's column this week mentioned that her odious husband had fallen over again!

I don't think people deny that teachers work hard but I agree that it is boring hearing anyone moan about how hard they have to work and teachers are guiltier than most of this, possibly because they feel they have to justify their holidays to non-teachers. I am a teacher myself and do find it annoying when some colleagues moan about workload, as if nobody else had lots to do. No matter now hard it is as a teacher, you are only ever a few weeks from a holiday. And yes, of course we do have work to do in the holidays but it is at a different and more manageable pace and we can direct our own time more. What does annoy me though is people assuming I will be free over the holidays. I am already starting to panic about how much I need to do in the next six weeks and so no I am not around for umpteen fucking playdates.

Gove. Did he fall or was he pushed. I think it's a shame that these conversations even have to happen. It's like we all have to pull each other down.

Ah well. Wanders off again.

Nettymaniaa · 24/07/2015 23:59

Is Centerparcs Belgium really cheaper? I looked at the summer holidays and it's the same price as the Lake District CP (our nearest) before you add on the cost of travelling - ferry, petrol, time lost from your break etc.

I am a primary teacher, hate to admit it but I don't find it that stressful ,its tiring but so are lots of jobs. I really like it and have mostly good days.

Before I was a teacher I was a social worker( child protection).Teaching in my experience doesn't even compare to the stress of that profession, where I worked much longer hours, because if I didn't someone could die. Also you think people hate teachers try visiting a family when you are a cp social worker.

The holidays in teaching are fantastic, as a single parent they are particularly lovely, they are part of the job, a great part ! I'm not moaning, or gloating. Its all good.
