I'm not a Labour/Tory supporter but this man actually has principles.

Who said anything about a one party state? Lib Dems can assume the mantle of 'loyal opposition'. UKIP and Labour can fall off the edge of a cliff.

thehumanjam · 18/07/2015 20:41

He is far too left wing for me. I'm currently a Labour Party member and I'm starting to think that the party needs to reform, it's too divided.

LizzyUseless · 18/07/2015 21:12

UselessLizzy, I can read fine thanks So you were deliberately trying to be provocative?

Fine. I'm quite happy to argue the toss with Tories usually. Some of my best friends etc. etc. But I cba to engage with someone who merely wants to wind up lefties and is so lacking in the courage of their own convictions that their only resource is to destroy the opposition.

Radicalrooster · 18/07/2015 21:23

That would be 'recourse'...

ss412zx · 18/07/2015 21:34

YANBU totally agree and have affiliated to vote for him.
I disagree it would mean Labour have no chance in 2020 - the argument Milliband was 'too left' is total rubbish, the SNP had a coherent anti-austerity voice and did incredibly well. Labour had a wishy washy watered down Conservative manifesto and did badly.

OllyBJolly · 18/07/2015 21:47

The popularity of Jeremy Corbyn sends out a message to the Labour party that the response to the mass exodus of supporters is not to become more like the Tories, but to return to the values of Labour. I find it heart breaking to hear the Labour dignitaries agree with the budget, with benefit and immigrant bashing, and general austerity measures.

This is why I think the situation in Scotland is so unhealthy at the moment. I so agree with this. The problem we had in Scotland was there was no opposition to Labour, so the politicians became lazy and complacent. We had corrupt councils, invisible MPs, and a sense of entitlement that was embarrassing to watch throughout this year's General Election.

Now, we have no opposition to the SNP. Many of the Westminster SNP people never expected to get elected when they threw their hats in the ring. They have something to prove, and so far, they are turning in an exemplary performance. Not so in Holyrood. We have issues with the police, education, land ownership and the economy - but no one to hold them to account. Not healthy. We need the Labour party to reform and rebuild. The other candidates for leadership will not do that. Jeremy Corbyn just might.

CactusAnnie You are using very emotive and offensive language.

I support the right of Palestinian people to remain in their homeland. I find it extremely offensive for you to say that support means the promotion of the murder of Jews. Many, many Jews the world over are aghast at what Israel is doing in Palestine. Would you say the same about them?

You do your fellow Jews a huge disservice with your words.

I have read and researched the Israel/Palestinian issue extensively for the past 30 years.

Jeremy Corbyn is reaching out to both sides in the conflict. I applaud that.

The more I find out about Jeremy Corbyn the more I love him. Intelligent, principled, compassionate and steadfast. I was beginning to think that there were no politicians who could actually be trusted to put people before profits. All I need now is Yanis Varoufakis to agree to be his financial adviser and I'll be delighted. #Jezwecan Grin

I really want to like Jeremy Corbyn.

I used to live in his constituency - including during Iraq war - and really admired him then.

I have a lot of sympathy for Palestinian people, but find some of the things JC has been reported as saying disturbing. Some quotes have made it sound as though he is advocating murder of Jews.

However I used to have great sympathy for northern Irish catholics during the time when ira were bombing mainland UK, and sympathy with the idea of wanting a united Ireland. I lived near London and travelled there often at the time. In having feelings of sympathy for northern Irish catholics I certainly wasn't advocating the murder of myself! I didn't agree with committing murder to further those or any ends.

Is it possible Jeremy Corbyn falls into same category?

morelikeguidelines · 24/07/2015 20:34

By which I also mean, is it possible he has been misquoted?

It does seem odd that every politician who is properly left wing is said to support terrorists.
