These threads are basically the only bonus of the app NOT having photo support.

Notasinglefuckwasgiven · 17/07/2015 13:47

Looks like a little wolf or possibly orb weaver? Maybe someone more knowledgeable can help?

ewanhoozami · 17/07/2015 13:47

fluffy that looks like a tunnel-web (NB not funnel-web)

FluffyPingPong · 17/07/2015 14:00

Yes that's it's eye! And I'm pretty sure it had fangs too although they could have just been funny flaps of skin by its face prays. I left it under that glass for the rest of the day until DH got home from work. He put it in the front garden and I'm terrified that it's going to come back in and eat me Sad

maybebabybee · 17/07/2015 14:06

I would have splattered that one I'm afraid. I usually get DP to faff about with glasses and bits of paper but that one would have been dead, dead, dead...

ewanhoozami · 17/07/2015 14:06

It will. But we'll say nice things about you when you're gone :)

FluffyPingPong · 17/07/2015 14:14

Noooooo!!
(hides behind the sofa... and gets eaten alive by giant killer spider lurking there)

L1ttleMissMuffet · 17/07/2015 14:30

FluffyPingPong I had one exactly the same as that in the door of my car last week.

We broke our hoover on a giant spider last year and then dumped it far far away after taping up the hose. Not looking forward to this year, I can't afford another new hoover!

FeedYourselfSmiles · 17/07/2015 14:45

That pic is the same type of spider we destroyed the hoover on! I'm not proud of it but we really panicked!

MyCarHasBrokenDownAgain · 17/07/2015 14:56

We have a false widow in our bathroom - was going to get DH to evict it, but it caught and slaughtered a wasp last week, so it can stay for now. Bit annoyed though, as last year a cellar spider had that bathroom slot, and he killed a house spider.

My bedroom false widow had to go though, after he decided to come down the wall by my head, just after I'd got into bed.

Mind you, if any of them get up the duff and start swelling up they'll be out on their ears - this is definitely a no children tenancy Grin

MothertotheLordsofmisrule · 17/07/2015 15:00

I have spindly spiders which are permitted to live in my house on the understanding they remove the bastard house spiders.

Thankfully we have removed the plant near the house which was basically a spider hotel and became over booked during spider season. This resulted in the gaffer tape and cardboard over the air brick incident of 2012 - it all got a bit like Aliens with barricades being built and ceiling spaces being looked into. shudder

I remember confusing a spider with a marble when I were a girl, it ran across my lovely 70's nylon carpet and stopped to stare into a glass marble I had been playing some random 'Inanimate object family game' with.

The beast sat there gazing into the glassy depths for ages having some kind of spidery trippy time.

MeowImaCatfish · 17/07/2015 15:09

Think I win no? Creepy crawly bastards. Had 3 house spiders in the last 3 weeks. As big as 2yo ds' hand. Dm booked one the other day and apparently it slid down the wall. I'm moving to Antarctica I swear to god

GoodtoBetter · 17/07/2015 15:24

Aye, but at least it's not what I often come downstairs to in the morning, or even spot scuttling across the floor occasionally:

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 17/07/2015 15:28

Those fast ones can be slowed down a bit by spraying (half a bottle) of hair spray on them. Grin Much easier to swat them then. (Have I mentioned I am not a "carry them outside and set them free" person?)

GoodtoBetter · 17/07/2015 15:37

I don't live in the UK, by the way. I live somewhere hot where cockroaches are par for the course.

Crinkle77 · 17/07/2015 15:40

Noooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!! I thought I had until August at the very earliest.

LovelyFriend · 17/07/2015 15:42

Fuck fuck fuck.

I was drying myself off in the bathroom this morning and I had a weird feeling that I should check the towel for spiders.

Then I thought "no way it's too early".

And then I thought "But I think they are going to come early this year".

and now I have seen this thread!

LovelyFriend · 17/07/2015 15:43

don't they know they aren't called September Spiders (at least by me) for nothing!

TheoriginalLEM · 17/07/2015 15:45

The "fangs" are pedi-palps and are the spider's little hands :) The more i learn about spiders the more i like them.

I have several of these living in the roof/lean to of my kitchen, they are called tube webs and have the most amazing green "fangs" - i think these are actually their teeth rather than the pedi palps.

I love my tube webs, they eat wasps!!! They are the mother of all spiders and are not to be messed with.
