We were away for a wedding recently and stayed in a B&B. They asked what we would like for our cooked breakfast the next morning. I don't eat sausages or bacon so I just said I'd like eggs, mushrooms tomatoes and beans. I got a beans??? Hmm So what do you think Mners? Weird or a nice addition to a cooked breakfast? :)

I would say essential to a cooked breakfast.

MrsHarveySpecter · 14/07/2015 23:29

Yanbu

wtfisgoingonhere · 14/07/2015 23:30

NBU cooked breakfast MUST include beans. Where was the b&b? I must avoid it!

Lavenderice · 14/07/2015 23:30

Absolutely essential! Oh god sausage, hash brown, eggs and beans......mmmmmm

treaclesoda · 14/07/2015 23:30

Beans have no business appearing in a cooked breakfast.

listsandbudgets · 14/07/2015 23:31

YANBU.

This drives DP mad. His idea of a cooked breakfast is bacon, sausage, beans and toast. Increasing numbers of places don't do beans now they offer him tomatos instead Confused

I don't like beans with my eggs as a general rule but lots of people do

IHaveBrilloHair · 14/07/2015 23:31

Not essential and must be served separately so they never touch the egg.

MaliaGrace · 14/07/2015 23:33

Only and I repeat, ONLY if they're in their own little ramekin. I do not want bean juice touching anything else until I deem it necessary to carefully introduce v small portions of beans to the sausage.

Yep

bumbleymummy · 14/07/2015 23:33

Yy to hashbrowns! I always keep them until the end. :) I'm glad I'm not alone with my love of breakfast beans.

Had no idea I'd be so outnumbered. I thought beans with a cooked breakfast was a modern thing, I never saw them when I was young Grin

treaclesoda · 14/07/2015 23:34

Hash browns? And beans

What sort of cooked breakfast is this?!

bumbleymummy · 14/07/2015 23:34

I actually don't mind eggs and beans. Eggs, beans and chips is another guilty pleasure on my late nights.

MaliaGrace · 14/07/2015 23:35

Hash browns make me sick - the texture is just simply wrong.

bumbleymummy · 14/07/2015 23:35

It was in Scotland wtf. Near Loch Lomond.

A nice potato cake hits the spot. Especially after a few drinks the night before... Grin

Tomato and beans might have been the cause of the consternation. Either or usually.

CordeliaFoxx · 14/07/2015 23:38

Bumble did they give you tattie scones? I love them, so much better than hash browns ....... Ooh and proper square sausage, it's just not the same in England ????

wigglesrock · 14/07/2015 23:38

I'd never do baked beans with a fry in the morning, I might do them if we were having a fry for dinner but beans for breakfast - nope.

grumpysquash · 14/07/2015 23:39

Bacon, eggs, sausage, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes and toast. No space on the plate for beans (and they're too runny and taste weird)

Hoplikeabunny · 14/07/2015 23:39

Beans are essential.

Tomatoes though...what is this merry hell?!

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 14/07/2015 23:39

A cooked breakfast = bacon, sausage, egg, mushrooms, beans & (preferably) black pudding. With toast or fried bread.

None of your hash brown nonsense. Nor cooked tomatoes. Tomatoes were not designed to be hot food IMO Grin.

TendonQueen · 14/07/2015 23:41

I'm not a fan myself, but they're a mainstream option. No need for their Hmm at all!

GiddyOnZackHunt · 14/07/2015 23:41

Eggs, beans and proper (not bloody oven) chips was what my mum used to cook me when I got home as a student. Comfort food. Especially when the egg was dropped in the cooling chip fat to cook.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 14/07/2015 23:41

Hopelike merry hell? Is that Merry Hill just before Christmas? Grin

CordeliaFoxx · 14/07/2015 23:42

I have beans AND tinned plum tomatoes, though they can't touch the tattie scone. I don't eat eggs so if the yolk breaks before I can dump it on DHs plate it's not good.
