Is this costume acceptable?

Received an email today informing me that my DS's nursery are having a 'prince and princess' day on Friday. I have a dracula costume that he wore for hallowe'en - would I be completely unreasonable to send him as dracula under the premise he was the prince of darkness? If I do will I be known as 'that parent?' I'm leaning towards definitely doing it but I've mentioned it to a few other nursery parents who have recoiled at the suggestion. Opinions very welcome!

Say he's the prince of Transylvania.

purplepandas · 14/07/2015 20:53

I think it's fine. DD age 3 went to play group today dressed as a dragon. Tis fine :)

Lovelise · 14/07/2015 20:54

Damn it TyrannosaurusBex! You beat me too it. (Was too slow trying to google how to spell Transylvania hehe)

SaucyJack · 14/07/2015 20:57

It's cute, and historically accurate.

Vlad the Impaler was a prince of somewhere in Romania.

spiderlight · 14/07/2015 21:01

Prince of Darkness is genius. Do it!!

SpikeWearingACoat · 14/07/2015 21:04

Saucy - If my GCSE history serves Vladimir the impailer was prince of Wallachla (?spelling) I could definitely send him as that! Who could get sniffy at actual history? Grin

Please post a picture Grin

paulapompom · 14/07/2015 21:12

That is so cool - the Prince of darkness/Transylvania! As yes pics would be nice.

Grin at south's 'prince' costume

formerbabe · 14/07/2015 21:21

No! Put him in a smart shirt and trousers and make a crown out of a cereal box or something!

SaucyJack · 14/07/2015 21:24

Xactly!

Better known as Vlad III Dracul if anyone reading this cares.

ScarlettDarling · 14/07/2015 21:26

Come on, this is mumsnet...how come no one has suggested that he goes in dressed as a princess?! Wink

willconcern · 14/07/2015 21:30

Yes, do it. I would want to do it too - but I also have a rebellious streak...

capulette · 14/07/2015 21:30

Yeah I wondered that Scarlett

I had a feeling you were 'rebellious' op Hmm

creampie · 14/07/2015 22:03

Our sons school had a prince and princess party. We sent him as the artist formally known as.... Went a bit over the teachers head, I think, being as she's about 12!

(Yes, we are those parents.... Grin)

TRexingInAsda · 14/07/2015 22:29

Meh, just do it, nobody cares. One kid was a dinosaur on Pirates day at our nursery!

Lweji · 14/07/2015 22:33

Of course Prince Dracula

Definitely go for it.

BertrandRussell · 14/07/2015 22:35

Have you asked him what he wants to do? Or doesn't that matter so long as you can satisfy your rebellious nature?

BarbarianMum · 14/07/2015 22:41

I think what he wants is less of an issue than what costumes are available at such short notice Hmm You'd be amazed how many boys don't have a prince costume at the ready mine would probably have gone in as spiderman

WorraLiberty · 14/07/2015 22:42

I thought Ozzy was the Prince of Darkness?

Anyway, just a suggestion.... Grin

Is this costume acceptable?
LauraChant · 14/07/2015 22:46

Other Princes he could go as - Robin Hood Prince of Thieves? Prince himself - his Purpleness? The Fresh Prince?

IssyStark · 14/07/2015 22:54

TRex. But of course there would be a dinosaur on Pirates day, haven't you heard of the infamous pirate dinosaurs?

Lweji · 14/07/2015 23:00

I don't know what's worse. Non-existing dinosaurs or discusting pirates. But to put the two together is just WRONG! (oh, wait, that's another thread)

poolsclosed · 14/07/2015 23:05

I think it's funny. Do it! post results

BertrandRussell · 15/07/2015 08:32

Yeah- there's nothing funnier than a joke at expense of a 2 year old.....Hmm

OP. Make him a crown out of cardboard- stick a few "jewels" cut out of coloured paper on it. That and his Dracula cloak (maybe also with a few jewels on it) and he's a Prince.

AlwaysDancing1234 · 15/07/2015 08:35

If you have a Dracula costume just use the cape and make a crown from paper/card. I really wouldn't send him in as Dracula for a price and princess day. My DS would be mortified if I did as he'd be different to everyone else (despite me saying its better to be an individual than a sheep blah blah blah)
