I'm going for a few drinks with friends on Saturday night for the first time since having DD. She is 9 months old. Her dad and I broke up 3 months ago so I'm really looking forward to letting my hair down (literally) but can't help feeling guilty as this is my first evening away from her. AIBU to have a night out? When your first night out was after having your DC?

About 8 weeks. First overnight was 5 months. All fine.

LostMySocks · 13/07/2015 23:14

I left DS at 4 months. Admittedly with DH and an expressed bottle....except DS had never been given a bottle. I figured he was a sucky baby and would get it. To be fair I could be home in an hour and did call to check he'd taken the bottle. The back up plan was the calpol syringe until I could get home. It was fab to go out and be me although I didn't stay late as I missed DS

maggieryan · 13/07/2015 23:16

Two weeks on one and three months on the other. Its whenever you feel ready and you sound ready for a good night out. EnjoySmile

Sternin · 13/07/2015 23:17

Pretty much the same as Preciousbane YANBU. If you were, I don't know what that would make me...

bluejeanswhiteshirt · 13/07/2015 23:20

I should probably add that her dad will be coming over to look after her.

I suffer with awful anxiety so I'm not sure how much of this is normal 'guilt' and how much of it is my mind trying to screw me over as usual!

1st child - 5 months (an hour at the pub rather than a whole night).

2nd child - 8 months

3rd child - 18 months

4th child - TBC

WineIsMyMainVice · 14/07/2015 20:55

FanfeckintasticFitbit · 14/07/2015 20:57

Six weeks Blush I felt so revived after it though!

Have a ball Wine

SycamoreMum · 14/07/2015 21:01

I haven't been one day without my dd. Not even an hour. ????

Don't be like me go out and have some fun! ???? chin chin!

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 14/07/2015 21:04

I went on a hen night when DD was 4 months after 2 months of desperately trying to get her to take a bottle of expressed milk! She is now 20 months (DD2 is 5 days!) and DH and I have only been out together once as we have no babysitters.

bluejeanswhiteshirt · 14/07/2015 22:17

I keep wondering whether to cancel but I know I need to do this for my own good, I feel exhausted and mentally drained and to be honest I just really fancy getting (sensibly) drunk and having a good time! She'll have lots of fun with her dad as always so I'm going to go for it. If I really don't enjoy being away from her then at least I'll know it was too soon.

And oh my goodness Lozy I've just read your post again and realised you said 4 years old Shock I thought you meant 4 months!

I see myself as a very overprotective mum who usually hates being away from her for an hour or so if I have to go to the doctors or whatever but something just feels right about having an evening out now. I refuse to feel guilty!

Works Christmas do, he was 6 months. I left him with his Daddy. They were fine, I got over excited and over indulged!
First overnight he was 10 months, again work thing, again left with DH. First overnight without either of us he was 2.7 and went to Granny's while we had a night away for DH birthday.

Thumbcat · 14/07/2015 22:24

Eight days.

Go and enjoy yourself.

TheCatsMother99 · 14/07/2015 22:41

YANBU to have a night off/night out

Purplepoodle · 14/07/2015 23:05

2 months with ds1 with his granny. Think of it as not you leaving but letting her dad be a dad and do his bit.

Purplepoodle · 14/07/2015 23:06

That was overnight.

Purplepoodle · 14/07/2015 23:08

I would make it a regular thing. Let her dad have her say one night every two weeks to start. You deserve a break and he needs dad time

cerealqueen · 14/07/2015 23:13

Five months. She was EBF and settled to sleep on the breast. I had settled her but she woke. DP texted me to say she was crying for me and he had to spend an hour settling her, while I was out. Git.

Have a great evening!!
