To be baffled that I can't seem to buy 100% cotton pants and socks anywhere?

dh reacts really badly to all the lycra in everything.

I've searched and searched and the quality of what you can get is fairly poor and you can't seem to get 100% trainer socks at all. You can get really posh executive socks but not trainer socks.

M&S ??

leedy · 13/07/2015 23:03

I think Sloggi might do 100% cotton men's pants, they do for women.

DoJo · 13/07/2015 23:05

Is it just lycra that he has trouble with? How about a cotton rich sock with something like polyamide rather than lycra? Also, have you tried large sizes of women's socks? There seem to be more cotton-rich clothes for women generally.

nigelslaterfan · 13/07/2015 23:08

you guys are good, thank you!

I will check sloggis, M&S are all mixed but will look at the ladies large white socks.

I'll check out the lycra poly alternatives too.

I love mumsnet.

Have a feeling Calvin Klein do full cotton boxers. The stretch ones have Lycra, but they have non stretch ones too

nigelslaterfan · 13/07/2015 23:10

thanks

These were the ones I was thinking of. If you have an outlet store near you they are 2 for £22

You cant get shape retention with 100%cotton so will more commonly be 97%cotton 3% elastane
Also marl colours are typically blended yarns
M&s and Sainsburys do solid colour 100% cotton boxers and slips, but you won't get trunks (close fit) as the shape won't hold

snowglobemouse · 13/07/2015 23:54

Would pure cotton socks even stay up?

noeffingidea · 14/07/2015 00:27

How about these ?www.sockshop.co.uk/by_type/specialist/pure_cotton/

noeffingidea · 14/07/2015 00:27

Sorry, link fail www.sockshop.co.uk/by_type/specialist/pure_cotton/

nigelslaterfan · 14/07/2015 10:39

Thank you for these ideas.

Yes I had found the sock shop cotton ones but he wants white trainer cotton socks.

He has all sorts of athletes foot issues and the not cotton socks seem to make his feet much worse.

What about bamboo socks? They are supposed to be anti fungal.

greenhill · 14/07/2015 10:44

He probably needs to buy more breathable trainers too, as the athletes foot and sweat issue will only be masked by putting talc or spray in the old trainers.

Does he have several pairs, so that some can dry out completely before he wears them again?

snowaccidentprone · 14/07/2015 10:55

these?

MaxPepsi · 14/07/2015 11:01

Not sure about the socks as they have elastane in them but Matalan do cotton undies - I get them for DH

Cheap, wash well and hold their shape.

nigelslaterfan · 14/07/2015 11:15

thanks, I'll check the bamboo ones out too

Asda do cotton boxers. As pp have said, it'll be the stretchy boxer briefs that have lycra in them but the shorts style ones should be pretty easy to find in cotton.

DidoTheDodo · 14/07/2015 19:26

Just about to say Asda and beaten to it!
