To hate the word "Boozy"

I HATE that word! The stupid "Boozy Lollies" video link at the bottom of the page is giving me the rage!

Boozy

It's such an ugly, sloppy word and reminds me of a drooling drunk.

Yuk.

Just thought that one reason I hate it is that it somehow makes alcohol into a friendly, harmless thing...."Oooh a bit of a boozy afternoon!" etc....due to the silliness of the word....it minimizes alcohol and it's effects.

I don't mind boozy so much, but I get the rage when people refer to alcoholic drinks as 'alcohol', as in "just popping to Tesco to buy some alcohol". Not beer, not a nice bottle of wine, not gin... 'alcohol'.

I've noticed it does tend to be teenagers/youngsters, but I dunno, it still grates for some reason! Unless they're specifically going out to buy rubbing alcohol or something, then that's legit.

TheHouseOnBellSt · 12/07/2015 11:31

I don't mind that....at least they're not calling it drinkies!

It should go along with

Cheeky.. as in a little cheeky drink etc

windchime · 12/07/2015 18:51

Nothing is as bad as 'cuppa'. Toe-curling.

steff13 · 12/07/2015 19:04

I hate the word nappy.

TheHouseOnBellSt · 12/07/2015 21:16

Wind oh God yes! What about "brew" or worse "Milky brew"

BLAGHH!

Skeppers Rubbing Alcohol sounds so 1930s or something....somehow archaic and no longer needed...like hat elastic or galoshes.

YANBU, it irritates me too. Especially when it's used by celebrity chefs.

Skeppers · 13/07/2015 07:05

Speak for yourself. Hat elastic is a stone-cold necessity in our household! Wink

LilyMayViolet · 13/07/2015 07:19

Oh god, so do I! "Boozy Brownie recipe".....nooooooo!!!!

TinyManticore · 13/07/2015 07:23

Ugh, 'cheeky pint', nothing fucking cheeky about it, unless the glass has a mouth and is swearing at passers by.
