It's crusty, red and a bit misshapen but I've waited years to get it done.
Love to all mastectomy gals out there.

Congratulations on your new fipple! Wine

Was it tattooed on?

ditavonteesed · 11/07/2015 14:39

Indoon't know what a fipple is but if mumsnet had a like button this would be the first post I liked. Smile

SurlyCue · 11/07/2015 14:39

Congrats to you! Thanks

derxa · 11/07/2015 14:43

'fipple' = false nipple It's made by cutting and stitching the skin on your boob. Sounds gruesome but completely painless.

You should be incredibly proud of your new fipple and yourself.

Put this up on here to encourage people that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Recovering from breast cancer can be grim and depressing

Smile congrats OP.

Glad I opened this thread.

Enjoy your fipple and all who sail on her.

Silvercatowner · 11/07/2015 16:02

Splendid! Thank-you for teaching me about fipples.

PuntasticUsername · 11/07/2015 16:04

Congratulations! Thanks

weebarra · 11/07/2015 16:09

Congratulations on your fipple! I'm one year post bmx and have another year before I can have recon (radiotherapy after effects). Can't wait to ditch the prostheses and feel a bit more "normal"!

mrssmith79 · 11/07/2015 16:15

Congratulations on your new addition Grin
I must admit, I clicked on the thread thinking a fipple was a fourth nipple Confused

Are you fellow Scottish wumman? What kind of recon are you having? I had DIEP. The recon does make a big difference. I was speaking to a nurse recently and her sister decided to have the op after dropping her chicken fillet into a supermarket freezer Grin
Unfotunately this nipple has no sensation so my DH will have to 'sail' on the other side, Getthe

I am derxa, in the east. I haven't looked into it enough yet, but thinking DIEP. My dads a GP and he's fearful of a long op - doesn't see the need for recon, but I've got three children under 8 and I want clothes to fit properly!

ASettlerOfCatan · 11/07/2015 23:11

Congratulations on your fipple! Many happy years of fipple fiddling await!

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 12/07/2015 02:43

I just had bmx & ld flap recon done 4 weeks ago. Fibble to be added later.
Congratulations on yours ????

FrancesNiadova · 12/07/2015 05:15

Congratulations Derxa!
I had mine done 18months ago. It did shrink a bit as it healed, but it does feel good to go swimming & have something showing through your cozzie!
I've also had my titoo, it does need topping up, but looks really good!
Well done for getting through it! Flowers

The op is long but if you have a good surgeon then I think no need to worry. You also have the added bonus of a 'tummy tuck'. I can recommend Mr R at Broomfield.

A toast to you and your fipple OP Wine Smile

cleanasawhistle · 12/07/2015 08:45

Well done Derxa for getting through it all.

I had a mastectomy a month ago and am still considering reconstruction.....the tummy tuck might just persuade me ;-)

FrancesNiadova · 12/07/2015 09:02

Hi cleanasawhistle, I remember your first post when you'd found your lump. So glad to hear that you're on the mend. Flowers

derxa · 12/07/2015 09:17

Flowers Go for it. The 'natural' boob makes such a difference.

derxa · 12/07/2015 09:21

Yes Frances it does look a bit odd when there is only one 'protuberance'
Flowers and thanks for posting.
