For my in laws for Christmas presents when they've got other grandkids might be a bit wanky?

I make one for all the grandparents on both mine and dp's side. Dp's mum and nan have another set of grandkids other than my dd and I add pictures of all of them.

Teabagbeforemilk · 10/07/2015 11:21

Yes, personally.

Why not ask the parents of the other kids if they want to do it together.

BitOutOfPractice · 10/07/2015 11:21

I do it in conjunction with my BiL so my mom has all 4 of her grandkids on the calendar

Luxme · 10/07/2015 11:24

Its normally a present from my kids to both sets of grandparents.

CocktailQueen · 10/07/2015 11:24

No! My dsis and I both do one and swap ours and give one each to our parents. I like having two!

Sirzy · 10/07/2015 11:26

I do one together with my sister with photos of all the grandchildren.

AmberNectarine · 10/07/2015 11:27

I do one, SIL does one. My mum hangs one upstairs, one downstairs :)

Luxme · 10/07/2015 11:32

I don't really like my SIL so not going to ask her to give me pictures of her baby to put on (it was only born last year). I'll just continue as i have done for the past few years and if she wants to do one then she can

Making it? Not wanky.

Giving it? Not wanky.

Interrogating the recipient as to why it isn't pride of place in their front room, and then stropping about and complaining loudly that they don't know what family is about? Very wanky indeed.

CatMilkMan · 10/07/2015 11:34

About 6 years ago a lady gave people at the office a calendar with pictures of her children on after she left I gave everyone in my office a calendar with pictures of me on every month for Christmas.
The next year I did it with my pets, the next was pictures of my car then pictures of my new office chair then a new stapler I got and then with pictures of my favourite lunch I had that year.
I'm becoming more and more wanky.
Send them several calendars each with pictures of one of your children.

CrystalHaze · 10/07/2015 11:37

it was only born last year

IT?! Shock

CatMilkMan · 10/07/2015 11:39

I have probably just massively outed myself.

VinoTime · 10/07/2015 11:44

I usually do one for my personal calendar which is more focussed on DD and I and all the things we did in the previous year relative to the months. But I do one for my parents that includes pictures of all our family - so they feature in it as well as my siblings and all the grandchildren, again, all relative to the months and what happened during them. But I think things like this can often depend on family setups as well. If you're not overly close to everyone on the IL's side of the family, then I think a calendar with just your children is fine.

PrettyLittleMitty · 10/07/2015 12:06

it was only born last year

IT? Nice.

DoJo · 10/07/2015 13:30

I make one for both sets of grandparents - mine have no other grandchildren, and my in-laws do but I can't be buggered doing two separate calendars and liaising with my sister in law because I am usually only scraping it together in the last few hours before the deadline for Christmas postage! If my in-laws didn't want to hang it up, that would be fine by me, and if my sister in law waned to give them one too, then I wouldn't feel aggrieved if that was put in pride of place, but I do one for each because, but the time I've been through all the photos and put it together I think I might as well!

Notso · 10/07/2015 13:53

Both BIL's give photo/personalised gifts for every occasion. It is a bit wanky as there is so much of it. The most recent was a gigantic canvas of DN wearing a crown like she is the queen of the family, I noticed PIL have put it up in the spare room rather than the living room.

NerrSnerr · 10/07/2015 13:56

My bil gives my parents one of my nephew every year. I have never thought of it as wanky.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 10/07/2015 13:58

What's wrong with just a nicely framed photo? I don't even use a paper calendar any more.
Not so - yeah that's def heading into wanky territory!

reni1 · 10/07/2015 14:10

We did one once, together with my sister's and cousin's babies. It is a bit twee, but all three of us were over the moon with our pfbs. Hindsight I am glad we did it together at least. I also now see they look all very similar when at the time I thought mine is vastly superior looking

Bellebella · 10/07/2015 14:16

I don't think it is wanky, I think calling a baby It is a little wanky though, sorry op.

Just do it from your kids if you don't feel comfortable enough to do it with your sil.

ShirleySmears · 10/07/2015 14:16

My sister gives me one of hers every year. I love her kids and they're beautiful, but who uses calendars now we've gone electronic? It sits unused and making me feel guilty all year, until I get the next one.....

8misskitty8 · 10/07/2015 14:53

My SIL does this. She gets a company to make a calendar up with photos of her PFB for each month for the in-laws every year.

HamishBamish · 10/07/2015 15:08

No, it's not wanky. We do one, but include all the GC not just our own. It helps that there are only 3 on each side though, so we have 4 photos of each and try to get a nice once of all three together for the front. My PIL say it's their favourite present they receive for Christmas.

It's really easy to include other families too. We do ours online and ask people to post their chosen photos. Then I just put it all together.

RabidFairy · 10/07/2015 17:31

I do this every year for my mum and she loves it. This year we have two new babies in the family; my 3rd and my sisters 1st. I intend to feature my sisters baby in this years calendar.

However if I made one for MIL it would be strictly of our family. They aren't really into taking photos on that side of the family.

makeminea6x · 10/07/2015 17:35

catmilk I think you might be just a little bit cool
