In order to get CTC for a third child

I am utterly speechless at this

The actual living wage is £7.85 outside London and £9.15 in London.

I do think the rise in the minimum wage is a good thing (despite DP being a small business owner) but its a right fucking cheek audacious to call it the living wage. The point in a living wage is to allow people to earn enough money by working without government top-ups, but this doesn't and the top-ups are going anyway, so it's shit.

Stitch - can I suggest you read one of the Letter from Concentrix threads? A company contracted by HMRC have written to many lone parents in receipt of benefits saying that they believe they are cohabiting and asking them to prove they aren't. From reading the threads it doesn't seem to be targeted at women who are fraudulently claiming but is a fishing trip to catch anyone who cannot prove their status.
So working logically it'll be some contracted company asking women to prove they can claim for dc3. But be in no doubt that there will be a burden of proof.

As I said on the other thread I know someone who fostered her nephews when she was 19, under this she will not be able to have her own child because she has not much chance of an education or a good job with 3 under 8s.

The rape exception is not workable for 100s or reasons. Taken abroad in a forced marriage and be allowed 'back' when you are expecting number 3, all a product of rape, but possibly not in the country where you were married.

Other situations, married couple have a child, then husband has affair and gets mistress pregnant, so can wife have another child?

Or adopting a child, but the child is part of a 'sibset'?

Situations where a child has a baby, say a 15 year old has a baby then in a benefit claim the 15 year old is treated as a child of the family, and their baby is too. So if the 15 year old has a sibling then there will be no benefit for the baby.

Glad I wasn't the one who voted for them

870,000 families claiming child tax credits have more than 2 children. I'm already paying for my own 2 children as well as paying a huge amount of tax so I'm pleased that this benefit is going to be limited.

I ran things through the BBC calculator today. It seems we will be better off by a couple of hundred quid. Then I ran though a single parent of 3 children, earning £25K a year working full-time, and it said £1300 worse off. That is a massive amount when you are on 25K, it's a huge proportion of your income.

Personally I'd be happy to keep my tax at the rate it is at the moment if it doesn't mean cuts like that have to happen.

WhirlpoolGalaxyM51 · 09/07/2015 21:40

In fact with 2 kids it's £1300 worse off as well.

That's a 5% drop.

Meerka · 09/07/2015 21:49

oh dear sweet god.

Please no.

Any 3rd child growing up in those circumstances would be scarred for life. Not only would it be between you and your mum, but you'd be thinking everyone would know. Way to go to produce a well rounded and happy child Confused

Having to explain over and over at the Agency the circumstances of procreation ... christ.

it doesn't bear thinking about.

Please someone tell me this is a joke.

I was never very fertile myself but I have friends who only have to look at a man to get pregnant. So even anti-abortionists are going to have to abort now. I never liked anti-abortionists myself, but I would fight to defend their right not to abort.
