In order to get CTC for a third child

I am utterly speechless at this

I work with women who have been have been in violent relationships and I have came across a large number of women who have more than 2 children - the vast majority of whom have been raped within their relationships. Most of these women will never report these rapes to the police even if they do report the other physical violence. This change will leave these women even more vulnerable, how can they leave their abusive partner if the state will not provide support for ALL their children?

SaucyJack · 09/07/2015 18:39

You've long since had to prove that you were battered by your ex in order to have an application for homelessness accepted.

This isn't that much dofference

SaucyJack · 09/07/2015 18:41

Different. No benefits agency will just take your word for it.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 09/07/2015 18:42

Shockingly ill thought out. And even if somebody is able to claim for a child born of rape then, as is pointed out in the article, it basically advertises the fact that the claimant is a rape victim and the child is the product of rape. Not much privacy.

limitedperiodonly · 09/07/2015 18:45

And how will you find the courage to leave an abusive man with your 3+ children if you can't afford it.

After all, staying with him and getting a punch and being raped twice-nightly could be said to be a positive thing to do for your children.

SuffolkNWhat · 09/07/2015 18:45

IDS has four children. Isn't it lucky he married the daughter of a Baron...

I'm amazed he found someone to have sex with him at least 4 times tbh. Pustulent, odious little man.

SideOrderofChips · 09/07/2015 18:46

I don't really get the frothing on here about it. Basically you just don't get CTC for a 3rd child. No one is asking you to kill your first born to make space for your 3rd born. Its just saying that you need to make sure you can afford to have the children you want to have.

Or am i missing a point.

LineRunner · 09/07/2015 18:49

Yes, you're missing the point about the rape stuff. Kind of like the Tories did.

limitedperiodonly · 09/07/2015 18:49

Or am i missing a point.

I've no idea SideOrderofChips, but I'm pretty sure there's something you're missing.

youareallbonkers · 09/07/2015 18:55

Some of these responses make some of you look like idiots! Give them up for adoption...3rd child not wanted...I despair

All they are saying is stop having children you can't afford and expecting others to prop you up. Very sensible in my view.

VivaLeBeaver · 09/07/2015 18:56

saucyjack. A friend of mine who was battered by her DP had her homeless application accepted without proof as such. She never pressed charges against him but had told her GP. Council were fine with that when it came to housing her.

SurlyCue · 09/07/2015 19:00

stop having children you can't afford and expecting others to prop you up.

Yes and stop being raped you silly women Hmm

GiddyOnZackHunt · 09/07/2015 19:04

Some people need to try and understand that one of the salient points about rape is that the victim doesn't get much of a say...

If the rape is within an abusive marriage then the woman may not have the option to terminate either.

Of course if rapists stopped raping then that clause would be redundant.

Katymac · 09/07/2015 19:04

So, say in 10 years time a divorced nurse with 2 children (under 8) meets a divorced engineer with 2 children (under 8) and they get married....the nurse puts her back out 6 months later and then the engineer is made redundant

Which of the children is the state prepared to support?

WhirlpoolGalaxyM51 · 09/07/2015 19:04

I don't understand why there are any exemptions at all. It's illogical. If the idea is that less well off people shouldn't have 3 children then what on earth difference does the circumstance of conception make. It's utterly incoherent.

I think they are an utter bunch of scumbags anyway though. I guess it ties in with the idea of "punishing" children whose parents are "feckless" but not those children whose parents made a genuine mistake or some such nonsense.

TidyDancer · 09/07/2015 19:06

Utterly stunned by this. Just about sums up how caring these Tory cunts are doesn't it?

Teabagbeforemilk · 09/07/2015 19:10

katy that's something people will have to think long and hard about before they blend their families, if both are resident parents. Again not really sure how it will work.

Tbh I think it would have been better if ctc & wtc had never been started in the first place. It's subsidised businesses paying shit wages and now trying to undo it is going to even worse

GiddyOnZackHunt · 09/07/2015 19:14

It also adds more complication to an already over complicated system. Complex systems require more administration. Apparently means testing winter fuel allowance costs too much but oddly poking around in the circumstances of a child's conception doesn't Hmm

barleyfieldsummer · 09/07/2015 19:16

Tidy - why go you think it is uncaring to make an exception for rape?

ElizabethG81 · 09/07/2015 19:18

I suggested that this might happen in one of the many threads about these cunts shortly after the election. I see they've not let me down.

Katymac · 09/07/2015 19:18

Or a mum with one child marrying a dad with one child get together & they can't have a further child themselves; but both of their partners can have another 2 with new childless partners?

Teabagbeforemilk · 09/07/2015 19:25

Again katy something they will have to consider, before hand.

Katymac · 09/07/2015 19:30

I can see a lot of children being passed from pillar to post

Currently a lot of 'family fostering' is done to safeguard children. This is likely to stop too

TheDowagerCuntess · 09/07/2015 19:31

If you were raped, surely you would go to the police before discovering you were pregnant?

Some women are routinely sexually abused, assaulted and raped by their partners and husbands. As in week-in-week-out.

Do you think they are in and out of the police station every time it happens?

Or are you under the delusion that it's only rape when a stranger attacks you in a dark alley...?
