To think my neighbour has some balls nicking my cat in front of my face

So, standing outside calling my cat to come in for the night. Next door opens her window, sees me and shuts the window again. 5 seconds later she re-opens the window, calls my cats name, he runs in her house and she shuts the window (at this point her cat had ran to her house and was sat outside on the windowsill watching her feed my dam cat).

She saw me, heard me call him and blatantly stole my cat right in front of my face.

Why am i such a wimp that i haven't even gone and knocked on her door and demand my cat back. I have considered walking up to her window and taking her cat and seeing how she likes it but no. I have walked back into my house, shut the door and thought, did that really just happen.

Maybe she was so sick of all the cat poo on her lawn that she thought well if I have to put up with this I might as well have the cat!

Can't have it both ways. Either you take responsibility for your cat and ensure it doesn't bother the neighbours or you let it do what it wants but accept it is no longer your responsibility/cat.

SoupDragon · 06/07/2015 11:47

She already has her own cat. Nice attempt to shoehorn in anti cat stuff into the thread though.

corgiology · 06/07/2015 11:49

Not anti cat at all.

I like cats but not irresponsible owners.

SewingAndCakes · 06/07/2015 11:49

How was the cat bothering the neighbours Corgiology? Op said that neighbour has a cat of her own. I'm not sure how a cat owner is supposed to control what their cat does when it's outside.

paulapompom · 06/07/2015 11:51

Where does it say about the cat pooing in her lawn? OP any news?

tidalwaveover · 06/07/2015 11:53

This is why cats are dodgy fuckers.

My dog is needy as fuck really attached to me and would never, ever bugger off to live with someone else.

Let her keep the cat and get another dog Wink

roseteapot101 · 06/07/2015 11:54

I keep my cats indoor my old neighbour kept feeding mine,my elderly cat got really fat.I had to put do not feed tags on his collar. Now since i moved they stay inside.People want a cat without the vet bills so steal other peoples cats

BabyFeets · 06/07/2015 11:59

This happens so often. You should keep your cat in for a few days and spoil her/him.
Some neighbour tried to do this to me because she didn't like me but luckily my cat is so anti social and hates everyone but me

Gileswithachainsaw · 06/07/2015 12:10

omg.

and yy to if you didn't get the cat it's not your cat. If they come in chuck them back out. If java at lease 6 cats if I kept everyone that legged it in my house. but I'm. Not a dick so I don't feed or water them and send them. on their way.

bloody rude

"Maybe she was so sick of all the cat poo on her lawn that she thought well if I have to put up with this I might as well have the cat!"

I love it when people add unfounded statements to a thread Confused.

Op, have you got your cat back?

emms1981 · 06/07/2015 14:11

I hope you have your cat back op.
A couple used to live next door to me that had 2 gorgeous little ginger kittens. They were aloud out far to early imo and were running about outside all the time, Once one of them was in my garden in the pissing rain crying at my back door but I wasn't going to let it in as its not my cat and I had a kitten of my own I didn't think would be very happy. Did try to take him home but no answer.
They both went missing at one point and somehow the owner found them in a flat down the road. The woman had pinched them and had even been out and bought them a little bed each!
they got them back but she had to find somewhere else to live and gave them to her in the end.

QuintShhhhhh · 06/07/2015 14:14

Why not just report her to the police?

I take it your cat is chipped and has your details?

ErnesttheBavarian · 06/07/2015 14:14

My neighbour did this. I only got her back when she had an accident and needed treatment (£££).. I've given up. I have given her the cat (put her name on official register etc and handed her over the documents).

And now we have a lovely faithful dog.

Yarp · 06/07/2015 15:39

corgiology

And that is relevant how?

Doreenmcdoreen · 06/07/2015 15:58

My friends cat goes round their neighbours and cuddles on the duvet with their cat. It's very cute if somewhat irrelevant sorry

Notgrumpyjustquiet · 06/07/2015 15:59

OP your neighbour is pure evil. I'd be ruddy furious.

MiddleAgedandConfused · 06/07/2015 22:54

Come back OP!

basicbitch · 07/07/2015 00:37

Bibi I got to here -

Tempting as it is, try not to go down the retaliation route of 'you take my cat, i take yours' all that will do is confuse the cat in question.

and completely lost it Grin

Wittynewnameifonly · 07/07/2015 11:06

What happened OP, did you get your cat back?

Spog · 07/07/2015 16:36

we need a photo of the moggie in question.
for cuteness' sake.

DandelionDaydream · 07/07/2015 17:51

The Op said she works 12 hour shifts so probably wont be back till later on.

OP whatever you do, do not thank her for taking your cat in overnight as was suggested up thread.
A throwaway comment can be taken totally out of context by the cat thief and see it as a thumbs up to keep taking the cat in.

You have to be blunt from the start and tell her its not acceptable, people like this seem to think that the cat is not being looked after properly and will try very which way to get the cat.

If you see her taking the cat in again overnight, knock the door/ring the bell continuously until she answers and tell her you want your cat back. regardless of the time of night. In fact run over as soon as you see she's done it.....Don't be a wuss.

Its your cat!!!!

Pipbin · 07/07/2015 17:58

After he died we found out three houses all thought they owned him and he had been in the cattery on the missing weeks

I don't get this thing of people thinking the own someone else's cat. I have my car because I went to the RSPCA and got her. Other people have cats because I friend has kittens or needs to rehome a cat. You don't just wake up with a cat in your house one day and assume it must be yours. If you didn't actively get it then it isn't yours.

SarfEasticatedMumma · 07/07/2015 18:22

I'm hoping that the neighbour hasn't kidnapped her - like that character from Misery! Let us know you got out alive OP, or we'll send the rozzers round.

GatoradeMeBitch · 07/07/2015 18:32

Have you got him back yet OP? I don't agree with those who suggested you harass the woman till she woke up - I doubt she was torturing your cat - but I'd hope you have him back now!

Notgrumpyjustquiet · 08/07/2015 10:06

OP - please tell us all is well and your cat is now locked in YOUR house back where it belongs!!!

Hmm
