They say it spreads the infection but won't that happen anyway if it bursts on it's own!!!

My Dad had a boil on his chest about 20 years ago. Since then it has formed into a hard blackhead the exact size and shape of a walnut. HE WILL NOT LET ME SQUEEZE IT despite begging.
