To think that the leader of a large organisation shouldn't do this?

I work for a large organisation. The head of this large organisation regularly sends out emails on the big political issues of the day, giving his own musings and opinions on them which are very, very partisan. He's basically trying to tell his staff what they should think about these issues.

There is no debate or right of reply. Just 'This is what I think, and this is why I am right'. Honestly, it's like he thinks he's Mao Zedong or something, our dear leader enlightening his poor ignorant huddled masses of staff.

I've never, ever before worked for an organisation where senior management thought it was acceptable to regularly lecture their staff on political issues, particularly when their link to the institution in question is either extremely tenuous or non-existent.

AIBU to think that senior management should keep their noses out of their staffs' political beliefs and not try and push their agenda onto people who are just doing their jobs?

I need examples. Cut and paste.

Maybe he thinks you will all be terribly, terribly grateful for his pearls of wisdom. He's probs ever so much cleverer and betterer than you, OP, what with being a highly paid man and everything.

What issues does he talk about?

He has a sort of blog. A page on the organisations web page with a collection of his witterings.

But he has such an agenda and he is soooooo selective. He has completely ignored what happened in Tunisia and Kuwait and the organisation has stayed resolutely silent on the minutes silence on Friday.

Yet he was banging on today about why the EU should bail out Greece giving ominous warnings about them turning into a dictatorship and another world war starting.

If he even acknowledged alternative views existed it would be nice but he doesn't. The one about the IMF was just scaremongering.

My MD does this too. Though we work for a political organisation and the clients do actually pay him for this wisdom.

I suppose if you work for an overtly political organisation it's acceptable. Because that's directly relevant and it's updating you on your workplaces aims and work.

But this isn't an overtly political place.

And anyway he's just such a pompous windbag! And so out of touch. He has a very bad recording of paying his lowest paid staff good and fair wages whilst paying himself an awful lot of money. Yet he loftily dismisses other people as 'living in Ivory Towers'.

Honestly, every time I see his name in my inbox I want to strangle myself with my lanyard.
