I'm 28 weeks pregnant. I'm too hot. My hands are feet are like hot irons and it's already too damned hot for my liking.

Therefore, I'm doing a raindance and hoping for Arctic winds.

There must be an opportunity here, for a service which matches up the "too hot" people with the "I live in Scotland and its cold" people - house swap? Grin I'd do a week of it. Do they have longer school summer hols in Scotland, or does it just start and finish earlier?

I was had my first baby in July 2006, we panicked when we brought him home and it was so hot at 11pm we had to sit outside with him in his Moses basket. DH went to Tesco and bought a fan, which is still going strong now.

The thing I found worse than sweaty pregnant, was sweaty breastfeeding - ugh!

The80sweregreat · 27/06/2015 11:49

Glad to read about the sun haters. I am one too. I feel for pregnant ladies when it gets hot and sticky. Mind you, in the UK its usually 3 or 4 days heat then a thunder storm! I prefer autumn , cooler weather myself.

neversleepagain · 27/06/2015 21:06

I was in the 3rd trimester of a twin pregnancy over summer 2012, it was tough! I would sit with my fat feet in buckets of ice water and eat frozen lollies all day. It was grim.

Kasterborous · 27/06/2015 21:09

OP, I hate the heat as it is so YANBU it must be horrendous to be heavily pregnant in this heat. I was lucky in that DD was an early March baby so I was at my heaviest in winter.

OddBoots · 27/06/2015 21:17

I have been pregnant in the summer (inc the very hot summer of 1999) and in the winter and summer is far worse.

I hate the heat too, it really makes me feel weak and ill. Last year though the thing that got me through was buying a large microfibre beach towel and soaking it then wearing it wet around my shoulders - absolute bliss.

cunchofbunts · 27/06/2015 21:22

I'm a Londoner too with a sun allergy.

YANBU! I'm 32 weeks and struggling, despite usually being a sun worshiper. I'm so sticky and sweaty, it's gross. I've spent every day this week looking forward to getting home from work so I can take all my clothes off and eat ice lollies like a beached whale on the couch. I don't want it to get hotter next week.

If you live near a maccy d's, they have these devine frozen strawberry lemonade things at the moment. They are like slush puppies and just the right amount of sweet / sour. Perfect for cooling down an overheating pregnant lady.

Moomintroll85 · 27/06/2015 23:38

Yanbu. I had my DS last August and it was way too fucking hot. Had an industrial strength fan on every night in the bedroom during my last trimester, poor DP was wrapped up in the duvet shivering Grin

Lj8893 · 27/06/2015 23:42

No no no please don't do a rain dance, Saturday can't rain so save your rain dances for another time please GrinGrinGrin

fattymcfatfat · 27/06/2015 23:43

YANBU. I am 36+3 and overweight, on crutches and I hate it Sad I'm fat pregnant and too bloody hot!

ErrolTheDragon · 27/06/2015 23:45

I'm hoping the forecasts are wrong too. DD is doing practice silver DofE expedition at the weekend - walking over 20km for 3 days carrying big rucksack, camping 2 nights and forecast is for the heat plus heavy rain and thunderstorms.

I was feeling sorry for her till I saw this thread, all you expecting at the moment. Flowers

ScorpioMermaid · 28/06/2015 00:38

YADNBU

I'm almost 38 weeks pregnant and I dread the thought of plodding along pregnant In the predicted heat or worse.. going into labour and being stuck in hospital! its enough to give me nightmares! Confused

Flambola · 28/06/2015 00:53

I normally love the heat but I'm 21 weeks now and felt far too hot today when it was just 20 degrees! So I'm not looking forward to next week at all.

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 28/06/2015 01:17

Daryl I'm dreading the sweaty breastfeeding! I hate people touching me when I'm hot Sad

Binkybix · 28/06/2015 06:55

27 weeks, commuting and no cool maternity clothes. On Wednesday I have to spend 5 hours in a small stuffy room going through bids with 5 other people. Still being sick which gets worse in the heat. Dreading it is an understatement!

McSmoke · 28/06/2015 07:33

Urgh, I agree with you. I'm not pg. This is too hot for me now, so I am dreading the heatwave. I like the sunshine, but hate the heat. I had three cool showers yesterday and it wasn't even close to heatwave temperatures. Roll on the Autumn!

lastnightiwenttomanderley · 28/06/2015 07:44

Oh Binky, doesn't sound good :( Lots of liquids!

Purpleflamingos · 28/06/2015 07:51

YABU. I've had two summer babies. There's honestly nothing worse than shivering in the middle of the night because you've woken up with sickness and end up hugging the loo whilst freezing, not bring able to move to get a blanket.
I used to pop my feet in a bucket of cold water. I don't mind the heat though. I had some wonderful maternity dresses which made it so easy to get dressed in a morning.

jaded99 · 28/06/2015 08:47

33 weeks pregnant, primary school teacher with the stuffiest/trumpiest classroom in the world...DREADING IT.

cpic · 28/06/2015 16:14

34 weeks here; last time I was preg across the whole summer of 2013 and it was miserable. please stay at 20 degrees, weatherGrin

BrittaTheNeedlesslyDefiant · 28/06/2015 16:21

We have (half seriously) discussed the possibility of moving to Canada, just to get away from the stupid bloody sun

Canada has hot summers. In the east anyway, I don't know about the rest. My mum moved to the UK because she hated the extremes of hot and cold!

We're going there in three weeks and I fully expect to melt. Currently panic-buying linen shirt and trousers in a size too big because I'm a heat-hater too and my normal British summer-wear of vest top and jeans just ain't going to cut it.

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 28/06/2015 16:46

I was pregnant the same summer cpic! I remember 2 weeks of complete hell in August.

MrsGentlyBenevolent · 28/06/2015 16:47

Britta, we wanted to go north. Just live on an iceberg with a polar bear Wink.
