AIBU?

To apply for a job in these circumstances?

I have been wondering about getting back to work, and I have seen a couple of positions I could apply for.

I'm pregnant. Pretty massively so!

The jobs are teaching positions so I would be starting in January if I was to be successful.

WIBU to attend an interview resembling a whale ... And should I indicate on the application form I am pregnant? I know it shouldn't really be an issue but I can imagine it might get eyebrows raised if I turn up notably large if they haven't been prepped in advance so to speak.

Thank you. Smile

I do a lot of interviewing - the main thing is to get it out in the open. As people have said the interviewers are not allowed to discriminate but if you are obviously pregnant then they will have a question in their minds - you have got a great answer to that question but you may need to be the one who surfaces the issue especially if they are nervous about discriminating and don't know if/how they can raise it with you. If you went for the email approach then you've put it away before you even sit down and you won't be distracted thinking about when to raise it - but it doesn't matter if you decide to deal with it during the interview as long as you focus on answering the questions not worrying what they might be thinking about your pregnancy.

Thank you. I hope there will be a general 'tell us about yourself' bit in the interview.

Well done for sending it in the elderflower. Stick to your guns with DH.

I love ILS's stern screen voice. Puts me in mind of Les Dawson's Cissie Braithwaite??

Well done! Even just going for an interview will help you gain some confidence and make sure this is the right choice for you. As others have mentioned just give them a heads up when contacted for interview and then explain your reasons for this being the right time to go back in the interview.

I've also been hired for a job when hugely pregnant!

Good luck!

Oh sorry I thought she was a little older. Do you have friends from toddler group or NCT? I think most people would help you out for a job interview. Or could DH take half a day's leave?

I've asked him, he's said no- will try to beg a favour tomorrow. It's difficult though as I don't have anything to wear or anything!
