Fanjo.
Even my auto-correct doesn't like it. Fan jo.

I bloody hate it. It's one of those twee, naff MN words that gets used and makes me cringe.

In the same vein, consider strike throughs. So naff. Not funny. Not ballsy. If you want to say something, just do.

mrstweefromtweesville · 21/06/2015 23:06

Let's all say 'vulva'. Do it now. One, two, three..."Vulva!" Actually, it sounds like a salute. Like "Hurrah!" or "Cheers". Oh yes. To support our favourite player/team on winning, "Vulva! Vulva!" or as we raise our glasses, smiling cheerfully at our friends, "Vulva!"

Thank you SoldierBear. You asked what's wrong with actually saying vulva. Nothing. We should say it more often.

AuntyMag10 · 21/06/2015 23:06

Yanbu it's sounds so twatty and cringy.

CordeliaFoxx · 21/06/2015 23:06

Calling someone a Fanjo is the same as calling them a Fanny

ShadowsCollideCantLogInToMN · 21/06/2015 23:06

And yes, Chaos, moist is the worst word ever. Ugh. Moist. Shudder.

CordeliaFoxx · 21/06/2015 23:07

No, I hate the word "applicator", doesn't matter what it's for, I always think of Tampax

SoldierBear · 21/06/2015 23:07

Seems a very coy word for a Weegie to use. They're usually rather more forthright. Grin

I bet he's a secret MN user and that's where he got it from.

fackinell · 21/06/2015 23:08

It's from the Latin, Fanjitus...altered here via Spain to Fanjo. HTH.

BlueThursday · 21/06/2015 23:08

Cordelia, surely him being Glaswegian he'd use Shereen?Wink

BaronessBomburst · 21/06/2015 23:08

Fanjo is a town in France.

although it's actually spelled Fanjeaux

Grandshiredoubles · 21/06/2015 23:09

In a town not far there,s a Minge Lane. I would so love to,live there just to be able to give my address out very loudly. MINGE LANE!

CordeliaFoxx · 21/06/2015 23:10

He tries to sensor himself around certain people, generally doesn't work to well, but "Fanjo" is used very jokingly, more affectionately. Which probably sounds obsurd to anyone who doesn't know a Weegie

QOD · 21/06/2015 23:11

I hate the word

But I. Like fanjoforthemammaries

SoldierBear · 21/06/2015 23:12

Yay for vulva.
Which actually sounds like the name of a stout Roman lady in an Asterix book.
Poor old vulva - why has it got such bad press to be replaced by a stupid word like Fanjo that nobody even knows what it actually means? Can we start a campaign to ban it for the sake of clarity and offences to the English language?

Trying to imagine a Glaswegian male calling anyone a fanny and failing miserably...

LaLaLaaaa · 21/06/2015 23:12

Am Scottish and never heard it before MN. Fanny means idiot in Scotland!

CordeliaFoxx · 21/06/2015 23:12

Blue have never heard "shereen" - what am I missing? We've been together 15 years but don't live in Scotland

ShadowsCollideCantLogInToMN · 21/06/2015 23:13

Cordelia, I'm now trying to think when I've heard 'applicator' in a non tampon-y context Grin. Not often, I think. It is a bit of a weird word though, isn't it? You know what's even worse? Succulent.

yellowcurtains · 21/06/2015 23:14

Tries to remember the words to "The Vulva Song Of Glory"...

CordeliaFoxx · 21/06/2015 23:14

Soldier DH would tell you he doesn't speak English, he speaks the Queens Scottish!

BlueThursday · 21/06/2015 23:14

Shareen Nanjiani is a news presenter in Scotland. Poor woman!

CordeliaFoxx · 21/06/2015 23:16

So many bad words out there though! There are loads of things I read applicator on, even home hair colours etc, but still think Tampax!

SoldierBear · 21/06/2015 23:16

If you really need another word for female genitals, surely twat is shorter and better known than Fanjo?

CordeliaFoxx · 21/06/2015 23:17

Blue actually that does ring a bell!

DoJo · 21/06/2015 23:17

www.lawoftheplayground.com/browse.php?type=subject&id=262

This explanation was posted in 2002 and

www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=fanjo

this entry seems to be from 2005, but the term seems to have become used more frequently on MN from around 2010, so I don't think it's an MN original. The first link seems to provide a reasonable explanation with a little context...

CordeliaFoxx · 21/06/2015 23:18

Would rather Fanjo than cunt tbh
