To feel hurt that my lovely dog licking someone caused such distress.

He's just a big affectionate softy, the only trouble is he thinks everyone loves him. We went for our walk this morning in the park and sat down on a bench for a rest. We'd only been sat down a minute or so and this woman sits down next to me. We were just chatting about the weather when all of a sudden she jumped up shrieking, "ahhh the dog just licked my leg"
Now I know not everyone loves dogs but i thought it was a bit of an over reaction. I did apologise but I felt kind of sorry for my dog, who seemed to have a bit of a hurt look on his face. Wabu to have felt sorry for my dog or should I have felt more sorry for the woman?

You need to think about anger management (wanting to fight other posters) and how to behave in front of children prorsum. I'm a bit worried about you

prorsum · 22/06/2015 19:22

I care, I care that an irresponsible dog owner thinks I should tolerate his dog, especially as I asked him to keep dog away. Twice. None of you give stuff about the children, they're just handy props for you to use.

Hi everyone, been for our walk this afternoon, warned Barney "no more licking, not everyone likes it". He seems to have accepted it, caught him looking longingly at someone's ankles when we had a rest on the bench, fortunately this lady didn't plonk her self down too near but Barney was restrained and contented himself with just the odd gaze. I think the hysterical woman yesterday upset him more than I thought, who knows....she might have put him off ankles for life.Smile

Grin @ sweetgrape's latest update.

usualsuspect333 · 22/06/2015 19:29

Won't somebody think of the children.

prorsum · 22/06/2015 19:30

Somebody did.

ElkTheory · 22/06/2015 19:31

And the puppies, Usual!

HawkEyeTheNoo · 22/06/2015 19:35

Prorsum, when I said I didn't care that he didn't do anything I was referring to the irresponsible dog owner in direct response to your post. I actually really don't care that a dog came to your picnic table twice, mooching food.

How dare you call anyone a moron, what kind of person are you? You are rude and aggressive and I genuinely fear what kind of upbringing your children have with you as their role model. I have serious concerns regarding your aggression.

Next time you kick a dog I hope you get what you deserve

CoogerAndDark · 22/06/2015 19:38

I hope Barney isn't too traumatised by AnkleGate. Sad Sad
The memory will fade in time. He may always be a little wary around sandal wearing folk, though, the poor lamb.

Hushabyelullaby · 22/06/2015 19:41

I love dogs and have one myself but I would be pretty unhappy with a dog (even my own), licking me. He's trained not to lick us. Dogs lick between their legs and their arseholes for goodness sake. Ok, it's not the end of the world, and I wouldn't have reacted like that myself, but she's perfectly justified in not wanting to have a dog lick her.

prorsum · 22/06/2015 19:43

Blessed to the saints, I have no children but I do play a large part in the lives of a few because my friends have them. They know Prosum is not perfect by any means. They trust me with their kids though, they know I would do anything to protect them. They're good with me being around them, warts and all.

Next time I kick a dog? There should not be a next time because owners should keep their dogs under control but if it does I'll let you know.

reni1 · 22/06/2015 19:45

I could send Barney some old children's wellies for his licking needs, choice of dinosaur or horse pattern.

SeenSheen · 22/06/2015 19:46

Gross, would prefer all dogs to be muzzled in public then I wouldn't have to put up with crap from the dog lovers brigade.

TiggyD · 22/06/2015 19:47

I don't like being licked in public places.

OvidWasMyFishmonger · 22/06/2015 19:51

sweetgrape Barney's welcome to lick my ankle any time he likes if he's feeling like he's missing out.

OvidWasMyFishmonger · 22/06/2015 19:54

So I wasn't the only one to misread Tiggy's comment the first time round then, usual?!

Well, there's at least one piece of good news on this thread and I'm so very relieved to hear it.

TiggyD · 22/06/2015 19:54

I'm not keen on being licked in private places either.

HawkEyeTheNoo · 22/06/2015 19:59

Prorsum I too am glad you aren't bringing up children in what can only be described as an aggressive environment. Please, don't let me know next time you kick a dog, not sure why you would want to further engage with a "moron" as you so delightfully called me. In fact, don't engage with me at all I find you extremely distasteful

CoogerAndDark · 22/06/2015 20:02

If you keep playing with it, it will just keep jumping up and making a nuisance of itself.

code · 22/06/2015 20:03

I want Barney to lick me. Sad

HawkEyeTheNoo · 22/06/2015 20:04

How very well put coogar!! I'm going to have a lovely glass of wine Grin

OvidWasMyFishmonger · 22/06/2015 20:06

Is it that time already? I might join you HawkEye!

prorsum · 22/06/2015 20:06

Well you said you hoped the next time I kicked a dog you hoped I get what I deserve so I assumed you would want to know the wreckage it caused, I assume you would want it to cause wreckage?

Just trying to be helpful and respond in clear and concise form. Something you frothers have failed to do on this thread.

We all meet and engage with morons every day. Just part of the rich tapestry of life is it not?

Woof woof.
