AIBU?

To be in an absolute panic

Some colleagues at work were discussing porn yesterday and how porn users can be prosecuted for certain types of porn

I have worried myself sick (genuinely) overnight as I'm such a worrier. I have watched porn myself maybe 6-8 times from pornhub. It was adult consenting sex, two of the videos were bondage where the girl had handcuffs etc on. On each one she was talking before/after the video started (I assume to prove its consensual) it was in a studio and was a set up scenario.

I am so worried that this is going to be traced back to me - I think watching porn is legal isn't it? I'm scared to google incase I freak myself out even more. I feel sick and won't watch porn again

Please help me :(

It's legal. You can untwist your knickers.

You haven't broken any laws, no-one will be carting you off to jail any time soon. Calm yourself. Brew

the illegal stuff refers to snuff movies ,rape, children and animals, so you are fine, but it would be more fun trying out stuff with a partner. porn is pretty dull for the best part and a lot is so obviously faked, hardly erotic.

The clue is in "certain types of porn", though, isn't it? If you were watching consenting adults then you're fine. If you're watching adults who are really not consenting or anything to do with children or animals, then you're not.

Christ, seriously? You worried yourself sick?

If the sex is legal then the porn is, if the sex is illegal then the porn is.

Gem124 sadly that's not the case; there have been some laws passed fairly recently around what's legal to show in UK-made porn (eg female ejaculation and face-sitting are now illegal!).

But greensleeves1 you have absolutely nothing to worry about. If you were making the porn, and making it in the UK, then maybe it would be worth worrying about - but there's nothing on Pornhub that would get you in any trouble whatsoever!

This might help reassure you (sorry, I'm on the app so no idea if this link is about to work or not!) about where the law falls and basically how it's about production, not viewing: www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/a-long-list-of-sex-acts-just-got-banned-in-uk-porn-9897174.html

The illegal stuff is mostly: rape, anything involving under 18's, anything involving animals. If you search for anything like this and watch it then yes you are at risk of being prosecuted (and rightly so).

There are a few other things that are illegal now as mentioned above BUT with those the emphasis is on the producers of the porn NOT the watchers.

If you use a mainstream service like pornhub I don't imagine there being anything illegal on it.

Thank you for easing my mind - I have felt sick since yesterday wit fear. I know the anxiety is irrational but I seem to be jumping from worry to worry just now and it is all consuming, it's horrible ???? thank you for the advice Gary - I may well speak to my GP. I expected the police bashing my door in any day leading me away in handcuffs - I really do imagine the very worst case scenarios in my mind when this happens ????

Stop worrying. Consensual adult porn is perfectly legal.
It is watching perversion such as child porn, necrAphilia, rape and beasility which will/could get you jailed.
Adults watching adult porn to get off is absolutely fine.
