Nazi memorabilia

Went to local car boot this weekend, man had a stall bedecked with a huge Nazi swastika/SS flag, selling mainly Nazi memorabilia. As a 3rd generation Jewish immigrant family, most of whom perished in the war, I was shocked and saddened by this. Someone wrote words to this effect on a local gossip site and over 60 people have replied - the majority basically calling the OP a dickhead, that the war is over, people fought for freedom of expression so get over it. Was really surprised by this response. I can understand that I might be more sensitive than most on this topic but can't believe that most people think selling this stuff is ok...if there was an ISIS flag for sale the same people would be going beserk! So AIBU?

There are plenty of people alive whose close family were killed by the Nazis.
Would people object to stalls selling handcuffs that were used on Black slaves whilst some of their close relatives were actually alive?
The growing anti semitism and racism in this country scares me.

Here i will stop, because it like arguing its better that a shark bites off your head than a crocodile.

But a shark would be much better. A clean bite likely to remove your head in one go. A crocodile would just grab your head and then do that twisty turny stuff where it rotates its whole body, until it eventually ripped your head off. No comparison in my view.

Hitler v Stalin is much more difficult, too close to call really. I think I'd go for Hitler being worse, because at least Stalin was on our side from 1941 after Hitler invaded the USSR. Although communists seem to forget he had a pact with Hitler from 39-41.

And Stalin wasn't overly worried about any particular group, but just murdered anyone who he thought was a threat to him. He was far more an equal opportunities genocidal maniac.

There's an annual WW2 event near us with lots of stalls selling memorabilia but all Nazi items are banned. You can dress up as a member of the German forces for the reenactments but not as a stereotypical Nazi.

My Grandad brought home a Nazi flag from the war, but he burnt it. I think a lot of the items on sale today were probably brought in by serving soldiers. Some remain in families, some are flogged for profit.
