Is this weird?

I actually think I agree but my children's friends were horrified; their teacher (- sixth form but it could have been in other classes too) had a child who was off colour but the six formers needed teacher near exams etc, so she brought the crotchety off colour 18 month (?) old into class and breast fed during class. The students found it "ultra awkward"... I half think this is a good life experience for them, admire the teacher's dedication, but also think actually it's a bit weird. Maybe a teeny baby but this was a toddler.....maybe that makes a difference for me, I can't decide... It's a friendly independent school- teachers first name terms, relaxed but quite academic.

She could reasonably have taken the day off and left her students to a supply teacher, she didn't. Doesn't seem like a solution to a whole days teaching, or a regular occurrence, but as a one-off for an hour or two's pre exam revision, sounds like the best of bad alternatives.
And the young people learnt somethng more important than the content of the revision, I imagine.

And -- I'm still not understanding why the child had to be breastfed on that very day at that very time. Obviously, the child is accustomed to being fed in some manner other than at mother's breast on all other days. This really doesn't make any sense. It's totally illogical.

Cant care about the breast feeding (although i can see some teenage boys finding it hard) but if the child was ill and the teenagers caught something it could mean they miss or do less well in their exams. For that reason the teachers child shouldnt have been in the exam room.

There is an insurance issue with people bringing children into their workplace.
Companies would need to change their liability insurances to cover children!

It is weird but good on the teacher for being dedicated. Would the pupils rather she hadn't bothered coming in? We're they pleased she did, but it was a good talking point because it was unusual? Or do they think she shouldn't have done it?

So, weird but good, I think.

You don't bring a sick child to work. I can see that teenagers might be embarrassed/distracted by their teacher bf but that's cultural (and sad)
