To want to join a Cult?

For years now I've felt ?dissatisfaction?curiosity? Like something is missing from my life, but I don't know what...

I do wonder about becoming religious, but I'm not sure about God, especially when seeing all the dreadful things that happen in the world. But I feel like there must be more to life than this... Those 'religions' which are essentially about doing good and being better people, [humanism?] well they don't appeal either, I want something that feels momentous.

I'm ripe to be sucked into some dodgy sect, ideally one with a charismatic leader who can promise good things in the afterlife. A Cult that's loose on morals, generous with holidays and has a very short initiation ceremony.

(also, not one that frowns on drinking alcohol Grin Wine Any suggestions?

You left off becoming the enigmatic leader of your own cult!

aliasjoey - What good timing. I am a charismatic cult leader who holds all of our religious meetings in pubs. Send me your bank account details, and i will tell you how to join.

Don't want to spoil the fun and am not a Quaker, but I do seriously admire the philosophy that a lot of Quakers aspire to: 'Do No Harm'.

Easier said than done, alas ...

I would like an optimistic cult, one where the mantra is 'It'll all work out in the end' or 'sure, it'll be grand'.

I was at a Catholic funeral the other day and I did think it was a pity I couldn't believe it, because the priest was lovely and very comforting in everything he said all the way through. Lots and lots about death being just a transition to another level of existence, and that we will all meet up with our loved ones again.
