For those than live in a first/second/third floor flat

What do you do when you order food shopping to be delivered? Are they supposed to carry it upstairs or is that cheeky?

2nd floor and they carry it up as there is no lift.

When I lived in a third floor flat I used to get them to leave it at the bottom doorstep and id carry it up myself. Took ages but you couldn't park that close to my flat so he had a fair walk back to his van to get all the different crates out.
I would feel embarrassed having someone carry my shopping up the stairs for me!

I'm in a 2nd floor tenement, and have never had an issue with online deliveries coming to the door (44 steps). That's why the service appeals! Haven't done it recently but they always brought it into the kitchen.

Luckily I have a lift and am only on the first floor. I think Tesco will only walk up 4 floors, which was fun on the 6th floor in my old flat when the lift often didn't work.

Fourth floor, no lift here.
They always bring it up, it's part of the service you pay for, nothing to be embarrassed about imo.

That's the reason I order my shopping!

4th floor, no pity and always brought to door.

Third floor until recently and they brought it up. They pretty much have to now they have done away with carrier bags as it is all just loose in their boxes.

Second floor, always fetched up with no qualms and they've always been cheerful with it ! We never do it online anymore but only had good experiences when we did.

3rd floor here. the fact they carry it upstairs is the main reason i use online shopping!

Apparantly the rules have changed recently so my Asda delivery man tells me. They're only obliged to take it to the front door of your building and can (and many do) then tell you they're there and have you take the groceries upstairs yourself.

He said it's a new rule the supermarkets have quietly introduced. So don't be surprised if the occasional one goes by the rules. So far I've been lucky

Yes, they bring it up. Our post comes up and through our door too. I think if you've got post boxes on the ground floor its a bit more of a grey area but if your post comes through a letterbox in your door then that's where all deliveries should come too.

I'm 1st floor but I have my own front door at the bottom of the stairs so Mr Asda just dumps my shopping at my front door yet my auntie because they have a main door into the flats gets hers carried up 3 flights of stairs to her front door.

It annoys me as they go to so much trouble to pick up all the bags in one they could just as easy ditch it at the top of the stairs !!

Now & again I'll say ooh rather than drop it would you mind taking it upstairs & they act like I've asked them to cut my toenails so I don't bother.

Very occasionally there will be a nice Mr Asda who offers to take it up for me & I'm always very grateful.

First floor. Tesco always carried it up small flight of stairs. Asda said it was against health and safety regs. I had two young kids and purpose of online shop was to avoid carrying them plus shopping up the dam stairs. Tesco delivery men were always very happy to help.

Just Googled out of interest and all the big supermarkets have it in their T&C that if you live in a flat their only obligation is to deliver to the communal door of the building

Well need to work at keeping in the drivers good books.

Waitrose, tesco, sainsburys and asda all deliver to our second floor flat. We do put in our delivery info though. None have ever complained. Sainsburys used to dump it at the front door but the others take it to the kitchen.

Second floor, Tesco bring it right into my kitchen quite happily. Sainsburys refused to bring it up the stairs so I don't order from them anymore. Asda were a bit hit and miss, first few times they brought it up, last time they refused, so I'm sticking with Tesco for the time being.

4th floor, there is a lift and they always bring it to the door.

I'm ground floor at the moment but have been 3rd, 5th and 8th floor before.

If I've paid for delivery, that delivery is to my front door, nowhere else.

1st floor and use Tesco as I find their delivery people to be the best. Always offer to carry it up for me, but I usually compromise - they help me stack it on the stairs and I put it away when I use it at my leisure.

3rd floor and only a couple of times have delivery men tried to leave stuff undelivered at entrance to building. I say undelivered as I'm disabled and I have no way of getting it.

I hope it's only Asda that have snuck in that disabled person excluding rule. It's hard enough to live in this world without deliveries becoming inaccessible too.
