to ask MNetters to help Abortion Support Network and Rape Crisis

ASN are very close to meeting their target thanks to the generosity of Mumsnetters. One in the eye for the Telegraph who tried to discredit them and MNHQ for supporting them.

Rape Crisis are way short of their target.

As these two organisations help women at a time when they are very vulnerable, it would be great if anyone who can spare cash makes a donation which MNHQ will kindly match.

There's still some time to go and now that the topic is on DOTD it might be more prominent.

ghostyslovesheep · 12/06/2015 18:28

just donated to RC

brilliant organisation

MrsHathaway · 12/06/2015 18:47

Such important work.

cozietoesie · 12/06/2015 19:10

Yes indeed - as is true of other charities nominated by Mumsnetters. I would have hated to have to choose the final 5 nominations.

fiddlybulb · 12/06/2015 19:11

So important to support rape crisis if possible. It's not a politically exciting cause like Abortion Support (in the sense of activism or visibility - really don't mean this disparagingly) but it's so so crucial and terribly lacking in funds.

Come on MNers, we can do this!

cozietoesie · 12/06/2015 19:41

It's worth remembering that MNHQ are to match-fund any donations made to RC or the other 4 final nominees through the MN JustGiving page.

HermioneWeasley · 12/06/2015 19:44

Agree, those are the two I chose to support for those reasons

cozietoesie · 12/06/2015 20:23

PS - Sorry. MNHQ are to match fund up to a total of £25k.

cozietoesie · 12/06/2015 21:55

Rape Crisis and IPSEA are doing a bit better now and there's still a good few hours to go. Smile

RitaFairenough · 13/06/2015 09:30

Saturday morning bump

BIWI · 13/06/2015 10:07

And another bump, to get it into Active Convos again!

fiddlybulb · 13/06/2015 10:52

Ooooh they're doing so much better than they were hugs everyone

It must be so difficult to get people to donate to things like this. People don't want to think about rape, understandably, or maybe think that people who've been raped have all their needs met by free services like the NHS.

They don't. Only voluntary organisations like Rape Crisis do this sort of work for free and they need money to do it. And they hardly get any from the government (indeed rape crisis centres are closing down left right and centre)

Sorry for the lecture Wink but please give them some money if you can afford it and if you think they do important work

NiceAcorns · 13/06/2015 11:27

Donated to RC.
