To ask where I can buy an upright vacuum cleaner that doesn't deafen everyone?!

Ok so posting here for traffic as this is driving me mad.

My vacuum cleaner is deafening- I hate it.

My list of requirements isn't too restrictive I didn't think but I'm getting nowhere.

I want a quietish upright that has a long cord, that isn't too heavy and that you can fix the attachments on board (wtf is the point of attachments you have to carry around separately until you need them!)

Are cordless vacuums any good- I can't imagine how they can be a powerful as a plugged in one?

Any ideas gratefully received?

Just get a Miele, they are the best. Ours is over 10 years old and going strong.

I have just bought a Gtech Airram, £200. I love it. Cordless, light as a feather, really quick and quiet.

I haven't yet done the Dyson vv Airram test but it picks up really well.
