To complain to Graco about this pram?

Probably am being unreasonable but I'd like to know if anyone's had a similar problem!

We bought the Graco Evo charcoal for our youngest and last DS. Everything looked good, the sales assistant in Smyths told us it would do our DS up until he was 3yrs old, the pram was light weight and easy to steer so I thought we'd found our winner. DS grew out of the car seat at 2 months, yes he was a big baby 9 pounder so I didn't take any particular interest in it. Until the pram, when DS turned 5 months the straps became tighter so we lengthened them completely which seemed to solve our problem for a while. 3 months later DS is 8 months and the straps are too tight, we have to pull them down to the extent where you can see them pulling DS's shoulder to clip them in and that's just with DS in a baby grow! It's near impossible to strap him in with a coat which really is needed for our horrible weather. I've checked Graco's description of the pram and they claim it should do a child until they are 3 as well.

Currently we're looking into prams for bigger babies and the mountain buggies seem to be a winner for us. Has anyone had a mountain buggie and can tell me if they're any good and more importantly If I'd being unreasonable to contact Graco to complain or is this just another case of 'it depends on the baby' ?

I've been researching a bit into this and I really wish I had of sooner. There's been a few mums posting about Graco prams/car seat so I assume this has to be some kind of design flaw.

I'm not sure now if complaining do any good though, a few others have contacted Graco with these complaints only to be told basically that it's not they're problem, the products were made to fit certain ages and that's that. I wouldn't even bother selling this to another mum, especially if they're not going to get the use out of it that they're supposed to.

I have an evo mini and had to google as the straps seemed short. There was a solution on YouTube I think. Dh did something to it and it's fine for my tall dd who is 2 now. Not sure how different the mini is to the standard evo tho. Will see if I can find the video that helped us

I can't work out why it's like it for some though and not others.
Is it a faulty batch and something's different about your one to my one? Or do we have completely different shaped children? Even so you should have more life on yours than you've had. I really would think if yours is 'normal' then your child should fit if mine does as he's massive, must be bigger than yours.
I'd try graco tbh, you've got nothing to lose but it's really not fit for purpose if by 2 months the car seat is not usable (when it should have many more months of use) and same for the pram. I'd really fight, write on their FB page, Twitter etc if they refuse. There's got to be something wrong with yours and even if there isn't, if your dc are a lot under the age limit (deffo way under!) and weight limit then it's not right if they're nearing it then I don't know if there's much they can do as they say 'approx' x years or x weight.

We thought our prem baby was the wrong shape as he didn't fit the evo car seat. We even wrote to Graco complaining about the short straps. They couldn't give a shiney shite. So DS is now in a britax car seat and DH did something to the pushchair go make the straps longer. I'll ask him when he gets home. I'm planning to get a v lightweight cheap stroller asap and leave the pushchair at home. It's not like DS will sleep in it anyway!

My 6 month old (born 10lb 6oz) is wearing 12-18 clothes, for body length not legs, which are quite snug and yet still fits quite easily into the graco evo car seat. All I did was move the crotch strap forward to the next hole and it's made enough room. She's massively long compared to all her baby friends, I can't see how an 8 week old could be longer.

The carrycot was outgrown a while ago so we're using the pushchair and does need to go up onto the last strip setting now, not sure what I'll do after that.

I complained to Graco about the snugsafe car seat that goes with the evo. They sent me instructions on how to adjust the straps that had photos and were much better than the paper ones that came in the box.

CoupDetat · 07/06/2015 20:07

Thank you everyone. I will email Graco to inquire about the car seat and pram just to make sure the other instructions aren't leaving it something. If all turns out to be the same then I'll state my complaint. Though I don't think I'll have much luck!

My lo was only average 50th centile but still fit in the car seat at 12 months and I still use pushchair at 21/2 and the harness is too loose if anyhing. Maybe you have a faulty one op.
