Takes all sorts I guess but a woman has just sat down with a child in a buggy and a toddler scooting around. She's drinking from her baby's bottle. Is this a bit yuk or is it the latest thing? Is it replacing cocktails in jars? I couldn't grasp that either!

a bit gross actually

why? because the baby will then drink from it again? I have news for you OP, some mummies even let their babies suck their boobs!! would you not share a cup or bottle of water with DP or a toddler?

OP?
OP?
I think she's fainted Grin

findingmyfeet12 · 06/06/2015 15:35

I think it is odd. I'm not saying it's wrong but I would say it's out of the ordinary.

TooOldForGlitter · 06/06/2015 15:35

Someone needs to explain what is odd about this.

PHANTOMnamechanger · 06/06/2015 15:36

maybe she's not the childs mother? maybe it's the nanny or childminder? Shock

findingmyfeet12 · 06/06/2015 15:37

It's out of the ordinary to see an adult drinking from a babies bottle - that's what I understand to have happened.

Unless this is something you see regularly?

I've already said that I don't think it's wrong - not at all. When you need a drink, you need a drink.

Getthewonderwebout · 06/06/2015 15:37

A bit gross because she's drinking from the teet and surely it's germy?

Not sure why breastfeeding has been brought into it though.

OP, you did not come across as asking if this was normal. You either seem to be accusing her of being lazy/stupid/disorganised for not remembering her own drink, or dirty and disgusting for sharing her childs drink.

StonedGalah · 06/06/2015 15:38

Ffs OP. You are obviously always well prepared. What is so yuck about taking a sip of YOUR dc drink?

Perhaps he did take her own drink, and shock horror, drank it all but was still thirsty. So she took a sip of her kids drink? Or maybe she had a tickle in her throat and just needed a quick drink to relieve it.

I mean seriously! You actually found this shocking? Be a dear Getthe, perhaps change your name to GetaGrip?

HoneyDragon · 06/06/2015 15:38

Nope, gross is realising you forgot a drink and using the dogs water bottle. That some people have done, and it's fine really because it's not like your using the drip tray bit and the water in it is clean and not got dog spit in and I'm clearly not doing myself any favours here....

Squeegle · 06/06/2015 15:39

Depends if she is drinking from it or sucking it Smile
The latter would be a little strange

Lucked · 06/06/2015 15:39

I am a bit judgey over squash from a bottle assuming it was a teat and not a drinking spout. I don't mind the mum having some as I have also done it myself but I have always taken the lid off so I am drinking from a cup without restricted flow.

Getthewonderwebout · 06/06/2015 15:39

Phantom I said nothing of the sort.

OP posts:
Sleepyfergus · 06/06/2015 15:40

Rethe breastfeeding remarks, getthe, have you heard of the term 'sarcasm'?

HoneyDragon · 06/06/2015 15:40

MrsDV she was probably a very safety conscious Mum and had cider and black in the bottle so the alcohol killed the germs, so sharings fine.

Getthewonderwebout · 06/06/2015 15:40

It was an Avent type bottle.

Right so I'm being unreasonable. Fair enough.

OP posts:
PHANTOMnamechanger · 06/06/2015 15:41

surely the teat is germy?? do you mean for the mum, or for the baby? Confused
either way, they are likely to be on very close terms and any germs probably already well shared between them!

Taytocrisps · 06/06/2015 15:42

Maybe it's vodka and squash Wink

findingmyfeet12 · 06/06/2015 15:42

Lucked - I agree absolutely. In fact I'm surprised at people thinking it wouldn't look odd for an adult to use a child's bottle with a teat.

I'd just remove the teat - for practical purposes.

EponasWildDaughter · 06/06/2015 15:43

Germy? What the teat? Or the mother?

eggyface · 06/06/2015 15:44

So it's about the oddness of drinking from a teat if you're an adult? Is this covertly accusing the mum of having some strange fetish?

findingmyfeet12 · 06/06/2015 15:45

Why would you assume that?

There is an option to remove the teat and it's not an everyday sight. Unless you think it is?

hiddenhome · 06/06/2015 15:45

Was she also wearing an adult diaper?

WellErrr · 06/06/2015 15:46

She was giving squash
To a baby
In a bottle

I didn't even go near that can of worms.......Shock Grin
