Mum in the park drinking squash from baby's bottle

Takes all sorts I guess but a woman has just sat down with a child in a buggy and a toddler scooting around. She's drinking from her baby's bottle. Is this a bit yuk or is it the latest thing? Is it replacing cocktails in jars? I couldn't grasp that either!

I think the op is getting a bit of a hard time here! Surely it's unusual to see a grown adult drinking from a baby bottle! Yes we can all assume she was thirsty and forgot to pack herself a drink and yes it probably isn't v hygienic but we've all shared drinks before with our kids although usually from a cup/glass/mug/beaker. But why oh why was she giving a baby squash in a bottle? I thought they could only have milk or water in baby bottles. It's not good for their teeth.

If she'd removed the teat first; I'd have thought she was just desperately thirsty. If she'd sucked it through the teat, I'd have thought it was disgustingly weird.

Ridiculous thing to get all about. I can't begin to imagine what would happen to the OP if she came across something truly outrageous - two dogs going at it hammer and tongs maybe? Who knows. Will nobody think of the GERMS!!!

It's odd that someone started a thread on it but it's not a common sight in my experience.

Having said that are you seriously trying to equate drinking from a teat on a baby's bottle with using a wipe?

Yep, same level of misdemeanor for me. Using a resource I brought for baby. Evian & co all have teats now anyway.

So using a nappy, Moses basket, all par for the course?....

I have no use for nappies, never had a moses basket, if there was another use, why not?

I gave my ds's moses basket to my sister for her dog. Is this a new trend I ask you?

I planted herbs in the outgrown baby bath.

Was she drinking? Or tasting/testing? Whichever, anyway, I can't see what's wrong with it. If I saw an adult on their own, on a bus, or walking around drinking from a baby bottle I may think 'weird'
As for germs? I doubt a mother drinking from her baby's bottle would kill the baby,...FFS I know people who let their dog lick the baby's face,.....but THAT does make me want to throw up.

It is a common enough sight. Usually teat removed, I don't think op said it wasn't. Sip from a baby's bottle is fine unless it's expressed milk, that would be weird. Squash? Meh.

Squash in a bottle is more of a no no then mum drinking it, it is very bad for teeth.

She thought of her children before herself. Happens a lot when you're a mum, so busy thinking of everything your child needs that you forget to look after yourself.

I've swigged some water out of my son's sippy cup when we go to the park and I realise it's hotter than I thought. Feel quite sad now I realise I'm probably getting judgey looks from some other mum

Speaking as someone with a children's dentist for a mother, anything other than milk or water is a bottle is very bad for their teeth. Ideally they shouldn't have squash or juice, but if you must then put it in a up (and dilute juice exactly as you would squash). Liquid drunk from a bottle pools in the mouth so the teeth are swimming in it. Straws are good as the liquid shoots straight to the back of the mouth and is swallowed more quickly.

Drinking from her baby's bottle is a bit odd, I guess. Not for any real reason, just feels about weird!

I actually drank from my DD's sippy cup today (water); we were at the park for longer than I expected and I hadn't taken a drink for myself. And I have drunk from a baby's bottle before, admittedly after taking the teat off. However, it should't have squash in it - don't we all know how bad that is for their teeth?

Connor I know the world won't implode but there's just no need to give it to them in a bottle, thus rotting their teeth and prematurely exposing them to sugar. Your little one can drink from a cup now anyway.
