To wonder what the hell women do in toilet cubicles that takes sooooo long?

have always wondered about this when standing in huge loo queues.

I just go in, wee (or ahem you know) , flush and come out. Why the several minutes people? Is the entire female population constipated ? Confused

This sort of thing just hits a nerve for me. When you've spent the majority of your life being told that your need for a natural function is a huge inconvenience and you are as fast as you are able, to have it assumed that you are faffing is kind of a kick in the teeth.
Fwiw, I dislike threads that talk about irritation with how people dress or speak too.

Maybe we should have separate toilets for women over the age of 50, or who has an "invisible " condition or who's having a bad day and needs a moment to themselves, so that all the fabulous people can take a piss without sullying their lovely lives with THOSE people. See, it's so lighthearted.

SirChenjin · 08/06/2015 09:42

Indeed.

iamadaftcoo · 08/06/2015 09:47

Sparky you're completely missing my point but don't let stop you.

What have women over 50 got to do with it? My mum is 52 and wees very quickly Hmm

I suspect the OP (and most others on this thread) were referring to women who fanny about, not women who are ill or disabled. In fact that has been stated several times over, but do continue ignoring it.

sparkysparkysparky · 08/06/2015 09:55

As a pp has already said, for some people this is just not funny. I try and have a strong game face about having Ms but every, I repeat, every, time I go to the loo ( at home, at work, at a public loo) I have to deal with an unpleasant reminder of my condition and know it will only get worse. So the thought of some [Insert word of choice ] tutting at me while I go does not really lend itself to lightheartedness.

SirChenjin · 08/06/2015 10:04

Try and imagine it's my 15 year old DD tutting sparky (she often does while she has to wait in long queues for the loo) - as she tries not to pass out/throw up with the pain of her bowel spasms and hopes that she can hold on long enough to reach the toilet before she has a diarrhoea explosion. Perhaps that will make you feel better - instead of simply assuming ( incorrectly) that everyone outside your cubicle are vile meanies who don't understand how difficult it is to be you.

sparkysparkysparky · 08/06/2015 10:15

I'm sorry for your dd. ibs is horrid. Won't share but have own experience.
But other people's bladder and continence problems are not anybody's business. It is a toilet. No one has to justify being there and, if it's a public loo, nobody is going to be there any longer than they need to be. Some people take longer. They just do.
And it's not funny.

sparkysparkysparky · 08/06/2015 10:20

And I didn't realise that anyone was tutting until I read this thread. And I'm not going to waste time determining who has a good reason to tut and who hasn't because I have my own stuff to deal with. Same as other people shouldn't waste energy considering whether someone is faffing or has a genuine reason for taking their time. Because it's a toilet. Not my whole life.

SirChenjin · 08/06/2015 10:22

I don't agree. Public toilets are for everyone to use - so I would suggest that it's important to remember that while there may be people in the cubicles who have reasons for taking as long as they do, it's also important to remember that there may be people in the queue who really really need your cubicle - so don't faff about.

And so another lighthearted thread becomes very intense - for our own good Hmm

Pagwatch · 08/06/2015 10:26

I am sure that some of the people taking ages in the loo have reasons and so I wait with good humour and a sanguine expression.

But the sheer volume of women who take hours is odd.

Take your coat off in the fucking massive queue. Put it on when you come out. Divs.

I was once in the restaurant at a big sporting event. Our (useless) waitress completely disappeared for about 20 mins. In the end I went to the loo while we waited. The person in the cubicle was on here mobile the whole time about how she hated her job. I hung around. Yes - my waitress.
