To think mosquito/midge bites don't take 24 hours to come up?

We spent Saturday evening at friends...we sat in their garden from 4.00 to 8.00 and there were a lot of those tiny little midge things.

Anyway...Sunday evening and I seem to be coming up in itchy lumps on shoulders, neck, waist and lower back as well as a few on scalp.

They do feel a bit mosquito bite-ish but why did they not show up till 24 hours after I'd been in that garden?

Could they be something else? They're really itchy!

We stayed at the friends house and I did think "Bed bugs!" but no...because my DC aren't itchy and my friends are clean!

Could it be hives? A few tiny midge bites can really set it off and they can take a little while to come up. If it is hives then an antihistamine cream like Eurax will help soothe it

I thought that....I didn't realise a couple of bites could set off a reaction.

I think they do actually. I run in the woods on Tuesday and Thursday evenings all summer and it's usually Thursday and Saturday mornings I first notice the bites (when I forget the repellent)
