To think 2 1/2 hours for the BGT Final is excessive

It lasts from 7.30 pm to 10 pm.

Too long, especially since school starts again tomorrow.

We have enjoyed watching some of the semi-finals this week but this is too much. Think we will record & start watching a bit later so we can fast forward through the ads.

anything BGT related is excessive

GloGirl · 31/05/2015 18:37

When I startwd fast forwarding through the bollocks on X Factor I was left with 6 minutes of TV. If that.

Never watched it after that. I spent more time using the remote to FF than watching it!!

EponasWildDaughter · 31/05/2015 18:38

YANBU. Way too long.

''we will record & start watching a bit later so we can fast forward through the ads.''

Used to do this routinely with BGT. And with XF.

(Don't actually watch either anymore)

EponasWildDaughter · 31/05/2015 18:39

Yes glo! About the being left with hardly anything left to watch after you'd FF'd through all the shite Grin

cardibach · 31/05/2015 18:41

That's a reasonable idea, but it doesn't really help with the 10 o'clock finish which I assume was your problem since you refer to school starting tomorrow...

redskybynight · 31/05/2015 18:43

Not sure why the final was not yesterday really ? My DC have a teacher training day tomorrow so they are allowed to stay up and watch it all, but it's otherwise not great scheduling for what is meant to be a family show!

Merguez · 31/05/2015 18:44

well it's pushing it for bedtime but if I make them watch it their PJs then go straight to bed no reading think it will be OK.

OP posts:
WaferInMyCoffee · 31/05/2015 18:45

We will be watching it but I agree a Saturday night would be better, it finishes too late for a school night really. We will start watching about 8 so can at least ffwd some of the adverts etc! Kids in PJs and straight to bed when it finishes!

Merguez · 31/05/2015 18:48

I have the same plan Wafer

Ridiculous for a family show to finish at 10pm on a school night.
Going to nick your idea and record it to watch after baths and pyjamas.

AnyoneForTennis · 31/05/2015 18:54

Thank God it's over! It's been painful to watch this year

ItsTricky · 31/05/2015 19:34

We're recording it to watch tomorrow night. Will skip through all the shit and watch it in about an hour.

DNBU, just been having the exact same rant! Mine are wanting to stay up and watch it, and it's FAR too long and finishes way too late for a school night.
Why wasn't it on yesterday? Saturday would have been a lot better. No getting up for school the next day for starters.

SinglePringle · 31/05/2015 19:37

The final isn't on Saturday night to allow the act who get through on the Friday time to prepare. Fairness n'all that.

ChuffinAda · 31/05/2015 19:44

Yanbu it's far too long. My dc want to watch but I can't allow them up that late it's excessive. We are going to record and watch later

AnyoneForTennis · 31/05/2015 19:48

Is it actually aimed at young kids? Thought it more suited to older children really....

YANBU

My 6 and 8 year old are really into it and bugging me to stay up. With the late nights they have had during half term they really need an early night.

samsam123 · 31/05/2015 22:32

why watch that rubbish anyway

Merguez · 31/05/2015 22:37

"Family entertainment" samsam There aren't many shows on TV we can all watch together. Personally I'd rather be watching Antiques Roadshow but my dc aren't into that, and it is nice to all sit down and watch something together occasionally.

And we thought the magician was awesome.
