We are on a very tight budget for the next couple of months. We know this, and have got advice from StepChange & I posted a thread on here for recipe /shopping advice.

However, today our card declined trying to pay for £22 or so worth of shopping. We were not expecting that, and now I am very worried and starting to panic

We have some food in for dinners. No packed lunch food though, for ds1 & 2 and dh. We have no milk (well, enough for a bottle tonight for dd) and are down to 3 nappies.

Payday isn't until end of next week, so have to do something until then.

Afternoon all,

We really hate doing this, but when any threads of this nature are flagged up to us, we're obliged to post the following message:

Can we remind everyone that we do advise all our members that, although we're awed daily by the support our members give each other through life's trickier twists and turns, we'd always caution anyone never to give more of themselves to another poster, emotionally or financially, than they can afford to spare.

We can see the OP has been a MNer for years, btw, and have no reason to think this isn't genuine.

Margaritte, we really hope things start to get a bit easier for you soon. Flowers

Evening folks. Just a reminder that we'd really love to keep this thread on track. We know it didn't start as a thread about a thread and we don't want to delete it when there is so much good advice here, so please can we ask everyone to stick to the topic in hand from now on? Many thanks.

Evening all. Given the recent turn of events on this thread, we're going to suspend it while we have a more thorough look into everything.

AmyGMumsnet · 09/11/2015 10:50

Good morning everyone

Just wanted to reassure you all that we’re still looking into this and will be back later. Thanks for bearing with us.

AmyGMumsnet · 09/11/2015 13:09

Hi all

Thanks very much for bearing with us while we had a good look behind the scenes.

There is absolutely nothing to suggest that anyone is not genuine on this thread, but we have mailed the OP and sadwidow28 to clear up a few points.

In the meantime we're reopening the thread but will be keeping a close eye on it.

Thanks once again for your patience Flowers

Hi all,
We can lock threads, yes. We don't tend to do it for much the same reason that we try not to delete, because a lot of the time if it's an interesting one it just prompts a bunch of "What happened to x thread?" posts.

On this occasion we're happy to take our cue from Margaritte.

LornaMumsnet · 04/07/2018 18:58

Hi all,

This thread is quite old and so we think it's best we lock it now.

We'd also like to remind everyone that, although we're awed daily by the astonishing support our members give each other through life's trickier twists and turns, we'd always caution anyone never to give more of themselves to another poster, emotionally or financially, than they can afford to spare.
