To Object to the Garden being used by our neighbours.

When we brought our house we brought it because of its corner plot and large garden.

We get on well with our neighbours, they kindly asked if they could have a party at the end of our garden as they do not have the space in theirs.
We allowed them to use our garden because we wanted to keep the relationship good.

Yesterday I saw her put up a washing line in our garden! Shock

Neighbour must have thought that we were out, because dh took the teens on a day trip and must of thought I was out with them.

I am not happy that our land is being used and treated as an extension of their garden. We were kind enough to the leave the gate between our fences open in case their dc kick the ball over. Put this is taking the piss. She didn't even ask me.

I have noticed a few posters today on threads with the same agenda and writing style. Both in almighty OTT rages, obessive and acusing other posters of being liars.Confused I think there must be a full moon.

BlueBananas · 29/05/2015 22:56

I've just seen all the responses to my rogue apostrophe, in my defence I didn't put it there my iPhone did but yes next time I'm being a cocky knickers I will proof read before I post
See, we're all helping each other Grin

JoanHickson you're funny. Not right, not right at all, and showing poor form, but funny.

BlueBananas, you're genuinely funny. All credit to you for such a cracking response. Great comeback! :)

Henbur1702 · 29/05/2015 23:16

hooby if she did OP could just say, I'm sorry I don't want to look at your underwear whilst I'm sitting in my garden, or yes you can use my garden to dry your laundry if i can use your drive to park my car.

hoobypickypicky · 29/05/2015 23:19

From the sound of it she may need to say both and come up with the dog story, Henbur!

I'm still shaking my head at the cheek of the neighbour!

HellKitty · 29/05/2015 23:50

Don't mind me place marking and all that..

LadyCuntingtonThe3rd · 30/05/2015 00:22

I'd be waiting for her sitting about 20 feet away in the garden chair with a glass of wine and water gun. As soon as she would walk in, I'd shoot her some water in the face for tresspassing. And also made sure that her laundry is completely wet. Just because it's my garden, so GTFOOH.
Too bad I'm not you OP. Sad I could have so much fun with it.
Ooh, maybe nail her undies to the lampposts around the neighbourhood. Or would just hang them on cars rear mirrors. With little notes with her address on them.

Fatmomma99 · 30/05/2015 00:23

Poor Miley... having her thread hacked by pedants!

Wine for you MileyV (if there was a key emoticon, I'd post that!

LovesYoungDream · 30/05/2015 00:45

I would fix the fence and return the washing line to your neighbours. My neighbours had a similar problem with their neighbour using their back garden and when they tried to secure their property, the neighbour tried to claim squatters rights of their property

Icimoi · 30/05/2015 00:59

You know what, Icimoi, I didn't scan the thread to count how many times BlueBanana had been called on her pedantry. I just went straight to the message box to remark on it. Sorry about that. Next time I'll check no-one else has posted and get your approval before I post.

No need for my approval Grin but it would be ever such a good idea if people checked whether they really need to repeat a point several other people have already made.

In this case, a perfectly good thread has been massively derailed by a load of people having a lovely time saying the same thing over and over again in their eagerness to criticise one trivial solitary post. When twenty or thirty people pile in repetitively and then accuse grammar pedants of being tedious, my irony meter is in severe danger of explosion.

And I shall now leave the topic to avoid derailing the thread yet further.

I think that takes 12 years, without the consent & knowledge of the owners?.

DollsHouseTeaParty · 30/05/2015 08:48

As pp said take the washing in. Wait for the knock for her washing. Act surprised "why the hell did you use my garden to hang out your washing anyway?" then say "you need to get a move on, DH took those clothes to the charity shop an hour ago..."

DollsHouseTeaParty · 30/05/2015 08:49

Lock that gate and tell them any lost balls come back at 7pm.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 30/05/2015 09:00

I'm surprised you agreed to let them have a party in your garden in the first place.

I'm all for keeping up a friendly relationship with the neighbours but to me that means taking in a parcel or throwing back the balls, I'd have said ' we're not comfortable with that idea' when they asked.

Anyway that's neither here nor there now, I wonder whether you'll get a knock asking why the gate's locked?

2rebecca · 30/05/2015 10:09

I wouldn't want kids wandering in and out of my garden to pick up balls. If I'm in they can knock on the door and ask. I think keeping the gate unlocked seemed like a good idea initially but your generosity is being abused so the gate stays locked.

Flyinggeese21 · 30/05/2015 15:17

BlueBananas if you're going to correct someone's grammar or spelling yours must be impeccable other wise you leave yourself wide open to looking a right tit.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 30/05/2015 16:14

A point which has been made by many, many others by now. RTFT!

BitterChocolate · 30/05/2015 22:52

Did they invite you to the party? Or did you have to sit in the house with your sad little faces pressed up against the window, watching them all have fun in your garden? (Yes, I know I've missed the point of the thread, buy you've locked the gate now so I have nothing of further use to suggest.) Grin

AwfulBeryl · 30/05/2015 23:02

Oh yes, good point Chocolate. Were you invited ? Did they at the very least give you some cake and sausage rolls ?
