To Object to the Garden being used by our neighbours.

When we brought our house we brought it because of its corner plot and large garden.

We get on well with our neighbours, they kindly asked if they could have a party at the end of our garden as they do not have the space in theirs.
We allowed them to use our garden because we wanted to keep the relationship good.

Yesterday I saw her put up a washing line in our garden! Shock

Neighbour must have thought that we were out, because dh took the teens on a day trip and must of thought I was out with them.

I am not happy that our land is being used and treated as an extension of their garden. We were kind enough to the leave the gate between our fences open in case their dc kick the ball over. Put this is taking the piss. She didn't even ask me.

Apologies bull I thought you preferred the actually factually correct posts, particularly since the comments regards bananas faux pas had already actually factually stopped and therefore your post also re derailed the thread Grin. My mistake! What's your thinking on the OP's problem - I think she should just tell her neighbour to FUCK OFF!

BastardGoDarkly · 29/05/2015 22:07

Jeeeesus Christ, can we get back to the fucking washing line folks?

So, op, has she got a garden? Are her washing lines full?

Just seems such a weird thing to do Hmm

AwfulBeryl · 29/05/2015 22:07

Evacuated? Wink

pictish · 29/05/2015 22:12

That's what I'd do...lock the gate.

Henbur1702 · 29/05/2015 22:12

Personally I'd just lock the gate and tell her it's not appropriate to use the garden without prior permission. OP doesn't owe her an explanation as to why they are ignorant neighbours who are taking advantage.

MissDemelzaCarne · 29/05/2015 22:12

We'll done OP. Smile

Henbur1702 · 29/05/2015 22:16

Sorry cross post, keep us up to date with any developments!

Whatthefucknameisntalreadytake · 29/05/2015 22:17

Is your neighbour usually a grasping cunt? If so I would take a firm line on this.
If she's normally quite nice and not a cunt I wouldn't be too hard on her, I would just ask her nicely not to do it again. If she's generally a good egg she'll be mortified and v apologetic.

Pipbin · 29/05/2015 22:19

Has she taken her washing back in yet? Please say you are holding her washing hostage.

Crikeyblimey · 29/05/2015 22:40

As my wise old mother used to say 'good fences make good neighbours'. Lock that gate.

hoobypickypicky · 29/05/2015 22:41

" I'd just lock the gate and tell her it's not appropriate to use the garden without prior permission"

Oh no, don't say anything about not using your garden without prior permission! She's such a cheeky mare she'll put you on the spot by asking and make it hard for you to say no. Just say you don't want her using it full stop. Maybe even add that you're about to take on a big dog/care for your parents' big dog which isn't very friendly so you absolutely must have the gate locked and no intruders.

And when this imaginary dog doesn't appear? Plans change, these things happen. Wink

lastuseraccount123 · 29/05/2015 22:43

I'd just lock the gate. No discussion. Just lock it.
