With MN, and more specifically, with mn-ers, esp those who post to AIBU?

So, long story short (wouldn’t want to drip feed): I work term times only, so am off this week for half term (huzzah!). Have a list of jobs to do, but also need some R&R time as well.

Today I have a TOTALLY free day – DH working, DD has plans with friends. I have a million jobs – notes to type up, a book I have to read, house looks like a shithole, a work email I (at least) need to give headspace to, a personal email I need to (at least) give headspace to (but need to check back to make sure I’ve got facts/quotes right to make my argument more devastatingly brilliant. I’ve got jobs on my list, some going back about a month. DH has jobs on his list, same (mutually assured destruction – I can’t complain to him about the lack of doing or he’ll quote mine: He can’t complain to me or I’ll quote his). Was going to do ALL of the above today, plus mow lawn (ker-POW! To DH over my doing my jobs AND his… Game over!)
Have done sweet FA.

Why? Because I’ve been wasting all my time on MN.

Curse you all with your interesting lives, your quick wit and intelligence. Your brightness, your sparkiness. Your thoughts. Your bloody OPINIONS. Your fascinating minutiae. Incidentally, I’ve done NO childcare since I discovered you. I honestly don’t think I’ve cooked a meal. (hey, she’s 13, she’s fine… I’ve done my whack!)

I’m livid. AIBU?

Should I send a stonking email to MMNQ? Can you offer suggestions as to what I should say, should I NBU.

YANBU. (I just discovered that my iPod thinks that the best correction for YANBU is 'tabby').

Sometimes I wish someone would ODFOD me esp in the daytime when I should be working.

Fatmomma99 · 28/05/2015 00:22

what's ODFOD?

brown nosing isn't a particularly good trait Grin

SilverNightFairy · 28/05/2015 00:25

YABU. How else would you know that you lead a dreary existence..devoid of travel to exotic lands, makeup costing more than than I pull in a week (the brand made with effluent of fairy foof) and children all so well behaved, it makes me want to kick mine out on the roadway?

Fatmomma99 · 28/05/2015 00:26

generally works, though, crusts!

And, screw you!

Silver - I have S&B for all that!

crustsaway · 28/05/2015 00:28

If you need to say so then I hope it works for you Grin

I personally would rather poke sharp sticks in my eyes than do this but hey.

GlitterTwinkleToes · 28/05/2015 00:33

ODFOD - Oh do fuck off dear Grin

I've been away for a grand total of, drum roll please, six hours!
I've missed so much Sad

sadwidow28 · 28/05/2015 00:36

YANBU - but don't close MN down will you?

I have just returned from hospital tonight (removal of a melanoma) and I need to make sure everyone else's life is better than mine.

I don't think we have a poster called every fucker (may God forgive me for using a sweary word). I read posts from Any Fucker and she seems on the ball. (Oh no - now I have to go to church to ask for forgiveness for the sweary word!)

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

Another one addicted here! I stumbled across it about 4 years ago and well life's never been the same since. In the early days I used to get very upset occasionally about some disagreeing with me, but then grew a "second skin" and realised this is the internet and we are all but anonymous women tapping away on a laptop (or tablet or phone) whatever.

I think the internet is addictive - and both me and DH are addicted. We're retired and sometimes we're both on our laptops for hours, and look it's nearly 1.00 a.m. and I'm still at it............loved the post OP!

butterflyballs · 28/05/2015 01:01

I dipped a wary toe into this site about three years ago, got a total bashing when I asked for advice and didn't ever return....until a few months ago when I got a lengthy ban from the other place (ban is up in a couple of weeks) so came back here and now I'm addicted.

I wandered into classics one day...huge mistake. Still there hours later :o

londonrach · 28/05/2015 07:17

Yanbu. The things i could do instead of being on mn. I could learn to knit, clean the housr, do the tax return, hoover the cat (if i had one), wash the ironing board, cook the wine... Grin

1Morewineplease · 28/05/2015 07:29

Oh Fatmomma you do make me chuckle!...I've been using mumsnet for reviews and ideas for a while now and only just recently started posting on threads... It's SOOO bloody addictive... It's day 4 of half term and I've done jackshit round the bloody house thanks to MN!!! I LOVE MNers .. Yes even those who rounded on me for saying something I didn't actually say !!!( ooh that did sting a bit though... Couldn't think of a witty riposte so skulked away). In fact it's so addictive that last night I actually forgot I'd got a glass of wine on the go (cripes!)
And as to sex... If you do find out what it is could you let me know please?!

Theycallmemellowjello · 28/05/2015 08:31

Ugh yes I am attempting to work from home and am a terrible internet procrastinator, MN being a particular pitfall. So weird how it can be both totally and compulsively absorbing at the time but completely unsatisfying ultimately. I second the recommendation of apps that block the internet - I use freedom. It does make a massive difference in getting stuff done.
