To ask you all what this piece of music from Shawn the Sheep is?

Yes, I know not a real AIBU. Posting for traffic. I love the piece of music in this Shawn the Sheep episode 'Chip Off The Old Block', DD and I even did a bit of impromptu ballet to it earlier. It has taken up residence inside my brain. But I don't know what the fuck it's called:

Starts about 3.30. It's one of those you hear around all the time, but never pick up on the name. I know a bit about classical music but not loads. Sounds a bit nineteenth century to me, so I wondered initially if it might be Strauss because I always think it's Strauss if I don't know who else it might be by. But my DF thinks it's Tchaikovsky and I must admit the twinkly bits sound quite Sleeping Beauty. Tried Shazam but no joy, googling didn't assist either. Please help. I want to find out what it's called so I can listen properly instead of having to play the same Shawn the Sheep episode constantly. Surely someone here is more cultured than I am and can help?

I want to say Tchaikovsky and something from the Nutcracker.... but I really don't know!!

CtrlAltDelicious · 26/05/2015 18:57

I know it the bloody piece though!

LadyCatherineDeTurd · 26/05/2015 18:58

You know, I thought Nutcracker too when DF said Tchaikovsky!

Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy from the Nutcracker?

editthis · 26/05/2015 19:01

Think it's Waltz of the Flowers from The Nutcracker, as pp have said.

MrsEvadneCake · 26/05/2015 19:03

I agree waltz of the flowers.

LadyCatherineDeTurd · 26/05/2015 19:04

Waltz of the Flowers it is, assuming youtube labelled it correctly. THANK YOU!!!! Very impressed to get an answer within six minutes of posting. I feel like a cultureless slob in comparison. Strauss? I wasn't even fucking close...

No actually. Aargh this is annoying me!

PourquoiPas · 26/05/2015 19:05

Waltz of the Flowers!!

PourquoiPas · 26/05/2015 19:06

Too slow. At least we found it!

BeaLola · 26/05/2015 19:09

Yes I agree with you all - I think it is the waltz of the flowers from the Nutcracker - beautiful.

editthis · 26/05/2015 19:10

Lots of waltzing in Strauss too, I think!

P.S. I like your username!

Absolutely gorgeous.

I love Tchaikovsky so much.

Is that to me edith? Thank you. You may recall that there are few people whose natural taste in music is equal to mine, I should have been a great proficient if I had ever learned. And of course Tchaikovsky wasn't actually born when I was in my heyday. So maybe I can be excused for not knowing!

You've all beaten me to it - am currently listening to The Nutcracker and have reached Waltz of the Flowers!
