To find oven cleaning really hard?

Ok so I probably am just incompetent but how do you get the gunky slime out after leaving it in there without it oozing through the door hinge and all over the floor?
I only have a couple of hours to discover the secret of grown up oven cleaning!???!

I need to know this too. I've cleaned the oven but the crusty bottom area fails me

It's very extravagant, but once a year I pay a specialised mob to come 'round and do it.

Best 45 quid I ever spent and then I lined the bottom with a washable oven liner.

It's impossible. Probably shouldn't admit this but I've had my oven for about 19 months and it's never been properly cleaned for this reason…also planning on treating myself to a professional clean cos seriously, sod that job.

What is a washable oven liner??? I think I need one of these in my life!

It always happens. Just put plenty of newspaper down and then swab out a couple of times with a big car damp cleaning sponge and rubber gloves.

It's a job I should do this afternoon.

Can anyone help with this though? My hob is metal and enamelled in white. One of the burners is black with burnt on food that I can't shift.

Do you think I can put Mr Muscle oven cleaner on it, or will that strip the enamel off? I'm thinking of testing a little spot that I can always cover up with the metal ring if it goes wrong.

"gunky slime" - by this do you mean you've used something like Oven Pride on it? If so them used lots of kitchen roll to gather it up and put the used roll into a plastic bag for disposal - you don't want those chemicals getting onto your skin. Then dip a cloth in hot water and washing up liquid, squeeze it out and give a quick wipe over the oven surfaces to remove any last vestiges of chemicals.

Yes. The gunky slime is oven pride which has now absorbed the black burnt grease

limitedperiodonly, logically it shouldn't affect the enamel, since oven interiors are enamelled metal. Practically, I'd do what you plan to do and test a hideable spot first.

Liners are from Aldi for 1.99.

I've seen "hacks" of making a paste with bicarbonate of soda, plastering it around a warm oven and washing it off after 24 hours BUT haven't tried it myself.
Yesterday as a quick fix to get rid of burnt-on oily crap on the base plate I opened a dishwasher pod and smeared it over with a bit of water. After 1 hour of soaking and a bit of elbow grease it was clean but I should have worn rubber gloves.
I just use the spray foam (Fornett in Italy) every 2 or 3 months.

I did mine yesterday with lakeland oven gel. I used kitchen roll and scooped all the black gunk out and straight into a carrier bag until I had almost all of it.

Then i used a plant sprayer with hot soapy water in to help clean the rest of the oven. The racks went into the dishwasher twice with a scrub with a brillo pad in between and I have a scraper that is a razor blade in a plastic handle that got up the really caked on layer in the bottom of the oven.
It doesn't look like it does when the specialist does it but it looks reasonably clean.

Oven pride is great. Throw an old towel to get drips. Leave overnight for better results.

Well I didn't ruin the floor but the oven isn't really deserving of any pride. It's better than it was I suppose.

Where does one find a local oven cleaner person to come round?

I have a company called 'oven clean' out twice a year. £45 each time and looks brand new.

I've got one of those Vax steam cleaners, £35 from Argos.

It comes with a wire brush attachment blast the burnt on grease with the steam for about 30 seconds then scrub with the wore brush. Comes straight off and then just wipe with paper towels.

Don't get any of that gunk that comes with using sprays.

Used to take me an hour to do the oven but can now so it in about 15 mins.

I just want something that will work for kitchen tiles and surfaces and windows.
