I wish the UK would take it seriously. We piss people off with our 'nobody votes for us because we're the UK' attitude and then put in either unknown acts with songs written by people who haven't had a hit since the 80's (Pete Waterman, I'm talking about you) or over the hill acts who look like they've been defrosted from some cryo unit somewhere (Englebert).
If we actually put in a song that related somehow to our current music industry, we would do better.
We need to stop entering songs that we think will do well in Eurovision, we need to enter songs that we think are actually good.
You can actually enter a song that has been released in the charts up to 6 months before hand, If you consider Loreen, Euphoria was a massive Europe wide hit before they even got to the contest.
I wish the people involved would put it back up to a public vote again (that way, at least WE could take the blame for the choice instead of some faceless panel). And none of that crap where we just pick the singer and the song is released later, we need to vote for the actual song (again, Pete bloody Waterman, Andrew Lloyd Webber)
I wish we didn't get advanced straight to the final, I don't think it's fair (money aside) and I don't think it's an advantage as all the other acts are heard in the semis. Maybe a few years of not being in the final will sharpen our minds a little.
We need to stop fixating on the fact that we can must have 6 singers on stage. It looked ridiculous when Blue (and I really liked Blue) performed with 2 shadowy figures next to them.
We need to actually use the stage and the great lighting effects. (Case in point - this years entry from Sweden) So often we stand on stage and don't really use the technology available, we don't put on a show.
All that said, I am a massive Eurovision fan (you can probably tell that).
We won't win, anything in the top 20 would be good, top fifteen would be amazing, bottom 5 is more realistic.
