to want to move to bognor but to worry about the kids education?

We want to move to bognor for many reasons, cheaper rent, family nearby and a really good catholic secondary school in barnham.
However the catholic primary hasn't done well at all in recent years and my husband worries about job opportunities etc when they're older.
Are we right to worry?

I don't know about schooling in Bognor but I wouldn't worry about job opportunities. Most people I know haven't stayed in the town they grew up in, they went away to university and then went where the work is.

Yes thats true Nerr, but it's so much easier if you can stay at home with parents whilst you're first working. I worry about this as well, we're considering moving more rurally but I'm just not sure.

Chichester secondaries are good, aren't they? Secondaries would worry me more.

The secondary in barnham is actually very good, brilliant results etc.
it's the primaries that don't seem to be doing as well.
And the thought of the kids not being able to stay with us if they went to UNI although Chichester would be just up the road and we would be renting so isn't the be all and end all as could obviously move.
The school worried me when I called as they said bognor has such a high % of children with English as a second language that this is the reason for bad SAT results!

I think you are worrying far too much about the future. Don't be thinking about where your dc are going to live when they are at uni when they haven't even started secondary yet. Anything could happen before then. Perhaps they will join the circus.

More as a way of reasoning why the results were / will continue to be low :-(
I agree I am worrying too much about the future, we all went through catholic schools as children so would like the same ideally but don't want to move them halfway through primary would prefer to do it now if we we going to

St Philips in Arundel is really good, Catholic and a feeder into Philip Howard in Barnham, and not too far from Bognor

Look, OP, as I said last night on yet another of these threads you've opened to ask exactly the same question, Bognor isn't going to get any nicer or the schools any better for asking the same fucking question umpteen times over.

Don't start worrying about university just yet - I'd also point out that the whole point of university is about leaving home - so I really wouldn't be adding Chichester into the equation.

Instead, ask yourself whether you really want to leave Horsham for Bognor. Two very different towns.

The whole point of uni is to move away from home. The whole point of getting a job is to move away from home Smile

If you want to move then move for the hear and now. Most people who go to university will move away.

Weigh up the pros and cons, rent, jobs, schools etc. I looked at your other threads and I wouldn't move to be closer to my mum if she was only 40 minutes away as that's hardly anything.

It's more the secondary than being near my mum but clearly bognor isn't a place people recommend living

But is the general area " that bad " or are people over exaggerating?
50% of children not speaking English I wouldn't think of as a problem but if the school are struggling with it that becomes a problem doesn't it :(

I don't understand OP, will your children need help as EASL students? Or is it just the attainment at Bognor Primary schools you're concerned with?
