To rally Irish voters here and ask is anyone voting No tomorrow?

I know there's lots of Irish on MN. I don't know anyone in RL voting No. But polls indicates it's tightening a lot. I'm getting scared it won't pass and my lovely brother and his partner will be left out in the cold again. What are you all hearing in your circles?

FYI for any non Irish there is a referendum tomorrow on introducing same sex marriage in Ireland.

Looks like fantastic result.. at least 60 40 at worst.... hopefully anyway! I'm v glad it's not going to be a win by just a few votes- while a win is a win I think it's great that it's a substantial win. It won't end homophobia by any means but it's fantastic!

first country to vote for same sex marriage by popular vote- that's a brilliant thing!

MitzyLeFrouf · 23/05/2015 11:08

I'm feeling so emotional and so hopeful! I'll be so proud of Ireland if it's a Yes. People's passion for this issue has really bowled me over.

madreloco · 23/05/2015 11:18

Lots of sour grapes reactions from the no campaigners in the coverage. Families matter complaining it was because the yes side had more money (we werent the ones funded by american fundamentalist churches!) others whining that they arent being represented.......give it up folks, your message of intolerance and inequality has been shat on from high! They'll be gathering for a tearful decade of the rosary at Iona HQ this evening.

Oh God yes. Although I can understand why some people think gay marriage should have been brought in as a matter of course without the need for a vote at least this way the Iona brigade won't be able to say gay marriage was forced on Ireland against its will.

tulipbulbs · 23/05/2015 12:19

Go Ireland, I love you more than ever today.

Spotifymuse · 23/05/2015 12:22

Sour grapes from those losing a democratic vote ? Surely not Wink

Amazing result Smile

GarethCanFOff · 23/05/2015 13:39

I agree re the sour grapes last night.

You can see the official constituency results come in here utv.ie/Referendum2015

For anyone who can't wait that long there are tallies from some of the counties from local papers so look them up on Facebook as they might be updating live. There is a good one here from Galway
www.facebook.com/GalwayAdvertiser?fref=nf

The first official constituency result has been call and it is one of the Dublin ones, for a Yes. It looks so far like all of Dublin will be a Yes, and from tallies Limerick, Clare, Galway, Sligo, Tipperary and possibly Donegal Yes. Looks like most constituencies are going to be a Yes.

Hope2003 · 23/05/2015 13:41

I'm so proud of my country today .We've come a long way !Star
Go Ireland x

MitzyLeFrouf · 23/05/2015 13:44

Who'd have thought Donegal of all places might be veering to a Yes!

Iggi999 · 23/05/2015 14:30

I am confused. Every website I look at has all the counties as still "undeclared" but all the news agencies seem to report whether it's yes or no.

Iggi999 · 23/05/2015 14:30

Is Donegal viewed as being more - religious? Conservative?

madreloco · 23/05/2015 14:53

Iggi, we have the tallies that preceed the full count, but they are accurate.

Iggi999 · 23/05/2015 15:10

Ah right I see. Don't want to get happy to soon in case it was wrong, but that sounds firm!
Farley, may I be among the first to congratulate you dear SmileWine

FarelyKnuts · 23/05/2015 15:39

Thank you Iggi Grin

Just want to go out and smootch the face off of everyone today

twinjocks · 23/05/2015 15:46

Congrats Farely - am heading into Dublin City Centre now with my DH - can't wait to soak up the atmosphere - and sure I might throw caution to the wind and smootch a few people myself!!!! It's a proud day for Ireland.

MissDuke · 23/05/2015 16:42

Great day to be Irish Shamrock - very proud

leedy · 23/05/2015 18:00

So very proud and happy.

And slow handclap to the upthread begrudgery.

trixymalixy · 23/05/2015 18:06

Bloody brilliant result. I'm so pleased. I was worried there would be a silent no, thankfully there wasn't. Congratulations to those getting married!!

SomethingOnce · 23/05/2015 18:16

What marvellous news that the yes seems to be so resounding.

Jolly good show, Ireland Smile

TheRollingCrone · 23/05/2015 18:19

I don't understand anniegetyourgun's comment. Surely the context was critical and relevant?
