Is it just me? I used to love it but now it's just pissing me off. So many changes to the plotlines in the books. I know they're going to change quite a lot but some of it is just pissing me off now because it's changing storylines that haven't even finished in the books, so you don't feel as though they are worth reading anymore.

Like this whole adventure with Jaime and Bronn in Dorne. In the books Jaime is only halfway through an adventure around Westeros putting down the last rebellions. But if the TV show isn't doing that, then what's the point in finishing that story in the book? Confused

Ditto the whole Sansa storyline. And I'm guessing also that the guy from Dorne isn't going to turn up in the show and get eaten by dragons, so that's whole chapters of the book that's wasted. And Penny the dwarf - she should have turned up by now, shouldn't she?

It's not that I just don't like the changes, it's more that they have been saying Martin has been agreeing to the new storylines, so it's as if he's admitting that huge parts of his book are completely irrelevant, iyswim?

Plus I hate the Arya, Dany and Brienne storylines at the moment, so I'm really not feeling the love, when I adored this at the start...

it was by his own mistake in betraying Robb

Poor Theon. He ws ony a lad. He wanted to impress his father and prove that he was one of them. Ironborn are harsh enforcers of patriarchal standards.

With a story the ending isn't the whole point it is the journey that counts. The characters in the book and the tv are on different journeys and are to be enjoyed separately - I don't mind the changes. I have read the books and look forward to the next books and they will include scenes and story arcs and characters not in the tv version. That is a plus point Imo.

It’s best to think of that novel and what you’re seeing week-to-week on CBS as a case of fraternal twins. Both started in the same creative womb, but you will be able to tell them apart. Or, if you’re of a sci-fi bent, think of them as alternate versions of the same reality.

I watched this week's episode last night and realised, I'm just not enjoying the TV show at all at the moment. I probably wouldn't be so irritated by the changes if I was enjoying the show but I'm just finding it deadly dull at the moment.

Well then you are bound to be grumpy and critical you just have to be honest with GoT and say 'i am just not that into you' it is ok. Wink

I think that after Tyrion killed his father and everyone had fled to various other lands (Tyrion/Ayra/Sansa etc) the books became extremely slow, so am glad that the series have deviated a bit. The TV show was always sexed up, the brothel was on all the time initially. It sucked a lot of male fans in at the start.

Ps, Joffrey, I think they had to make Ayra another outfit for this series, she looks like she's getting a good pair of boobs on her now she's growing up. She'd have burst out of her tunic!

Too true the pacing of the later books and the bloated cast of characters would not work onscreen. I respect most of the choices though there are scenes/ characters from the books I miss. It also means I am less certain of what is going to happen on the tv which is nice.

Thurlow, I agree with you 100%. I love the books and hate how they've ruined this latest series by discarding so many great plot lines. I am not enjoying it at all at the moment Sad

If you like to analyse things here is the explanation of why Littlefinger is just like a pickup artist.

I'm really pleased they've ditched all the random bods that GRR chucked into the mix in the last books! As peeps up-thread have pointed out, it just goes to show how unnecessary they were to the actual story ...

PS. I hated Tom Bombadil too ... Grin
