So I upgraded my phone and they asked me if I wanted to trade my old one in for the bargain price of £10(!!!)

I agreed and then she advised me to take it to "Geek Squad" and they would transfer all my contacts, photos etc over to the new phone for me and because I was trading my phone in, it would only cost £5 instead of £15 for this service

(It's an iphone) So I asked could I not just plug it into my itunes account and sync it to which she just said .... well yes you could.

I think they have to offer the "Geek Squad" service to everyone who buys a phone.

It's more useful to people who are going from Android to Apple or Blackberry to Android or whatever, because that's a harder process to do yourself, but I suppose there are some people who may struggle backing up everything from their phone themselves. iTunes doesn't make transferring all your texts all that easy, for example.

But I'd imagine that it's just that she's contractually obliged to offer it and can't tell you that you could do it yourself unless you ask.

Dont get geeksquad.

If you're moving from Apple to android there is a free app and you plug the phones together and voila job done.

No need to pay such extortionate prices

I should have said I upgraded from an iPhone 4 to an iPhone 6. So pretty easy to transfer.

I suppose it just annoyed me more as she mentioned it twice in a - as a special deal just for you - kind of way.

You've obviously never worked in retail. You have to upsell.

I have worked in retail but I did also buy a phone case and had already said no to her once before.
